Black Panther Concept Art Shows Okoye Donning A Sci-Fi Type Suit With Goggles

There’s absolutely no stop to Black Panther’s staggering success with its worldwide box office collections expected to cross the $1 billion mark by this weekend. Almost each and every character in the film, including Chadwick Boseman as T’Challa / Black Panther, Letitia Wright as Shuri, Danai Gurira as Okoye and Michael B. Jordan as Erik Killmonger have done complete justice to their roles.

One such commendable performance in the film is given by Danai Gurira who plays the general of the Dora Milaje, Okoye. Gurira is the female lead of Black Panther. A new batch of early concept art from the film shows a couple of alternate designs for Okoye’s character that Marvel Studios might have considered before sealing the final look for Wakanda’s General.

One of the concept arts shows Okoye with a different spear design that appears similar to an electrified pike. Another one shows Okoye with more sci-fi look complete with a pair of goggles. She also has a pet eagle resting on one of her hands. You can check out Black Panther Okoye’s early concept arts below.

Recently, concept artist Jerad S. Marantz also shared some early concept art for T’Challa’s Black Panther suit on Twitter. Marantz worked briefly on the movie under Ryan Meinerding, Marvel Studios Head of Visual Development. One of the concept art had Black Panther sporting a half-masked look. The half mask looked quite similar to the mask that Batman dons.

At this point of time, it remains unclear if fans will ever get to see different versions of Okoye or Black Panther’s suit in any future Black Panther movies. Fortunately, fans will get to see more of their favorite Black Panther characters in the upcoming Avengers: Infinity War movie.

Notably, Marvel Studios has officially moved up Avengers: Infinity War’s release date. Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, the film will now land in theatres on April 27.
