Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will be introducing the Midnight Angels, the secret strike force made-up of the nation’s finest warriors. While Aneka’s (Michaela Coel) blue attire from the trailer already hinted at her connection to the elite group, a new poster for the sequel from Screen X seems to suggest Okoye (Danai Gurira) will also take her place among them.
Namor’s (Tenoch Huerta) arrival and the possibility of Shuri (Letitia Wright) taking on the mantle in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever has been the most discussed topic among fans though it’s far from being the only storylines director Ryan Coogler has explored in the sequel.
Marvel comic fans have especially kept an eye out for Aneka, a new character debuting as one of the warriors among the Dora Milaje. In the source material, the blue armored warriors exist in the shadows and their relationship with the crown is complicated and at times, their actions are also in violation of Wakanda law. Some eagle-eyed fans spotted Okoye wearing the elite squad armor unlike Ayo’s (Florence Kasumba) Dora Milaje uniform, readers can check it below.
If Okoye’s costume in the official poster isn’t just a fashion statement, then it’s likely the Wakandan warrior may have been forced to exit her post due to a failure to fulfill her duties. Could it have anything to do with T’Challa? It’s too soon to speculate further but it’s hard to see Okoye betray Queen Ramonda (Angela Bassett). Nevertheless, She and Ayo were part of the Midnight Angels in the comics and even fought against a corrupted Wakanda after freeing Aneka from prison.

Coogler has so far assured a comic accurate adaptation of Aneka. Speaking to Empire, the director cryptically addressed her arc stating, “I think people who know the books will be pleasantly surprised by how faithful we are to them,” Coogler teasingly said speaking to Empire for their November issue 2022. “But we also deviate from it in exciting ways as well. And Michaela just fit right in with the group. It was like she was always there.”
With Tony Stark out of the equation, the advanced lab led by Shuri has been helpful in aiding other heroes like building Bucky a new vibranium arm and designing a new falcon suit for Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) In fact, the Falcon and the Winter Soldier series also featured the Dora Milaje led by Ayo.
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever arrives in theaters on November 11.
