The Blade has reportedly found another writer in Moon Knight’s Beau DeMayo to scribe a script from the scratch for the Daywalker starring standalone feature. The anticipated supernatural Marvel project was expected to begin rolling the cameras in November.
The Mahershala Ali starrer Blade movie is facing setbacks due to director Bassam Tariq’s exit and supposedly, a weak script has left the Oscar-winning actor playing the titular Vampire hunter role frustrated by the whole process. But luckily, Kevin Feige (who has been on a roll lately) may have found another creative to take over the penning duties of Marvel Studios’ most anticipated flick, set to explore the supernatural side of MCU.
For starters, news that the Blade project was in trouble came from The Ankler film journalist Jeff Sneider stating that Feige was ‘spread too thin’ and the insider indicated the Blade movie could be a casualty of that. Sneider even claimed the movie’s weak script was merely 90 pages long and featured just two lackluster action scenes. However, it seems Marvel Studios was quick at damage control as the folks at The Direct report that DeMayo will be doing a complete rewrite from scratch.
DeMayo also scribed X-Men 97 and his works on the animated project and Moon Knight impressed Feige and other execs at Marvel Studios which led to the decision to hand reigns to him to write a Blade story from the ground. It is unclear if any parts of Stacy Osei-Kuffour’s script could be included in the new version, a report from Illuminerdi revealed the first script had set the movie in the 1920s featuring European vampires with multiple time-jumps.

Ali already exists in the MCU with his official cameo in Eternals as Blade. With the upcoming Werewolf by Night set as a Halloween special, Marvel is officially getting their foot wet with the supernatural theme but will Disney take it a step up the notch to make Blade R-rated similar to Deadpool 3? Let’s hope Sony’s Morbius helped Marvel Studios to take a better approach with its Monsterverse franchise.
Blade movie could potentially face a release date pushback with Marvel Studios on the hunt for a new helmer to direct the project. Currently, the movie is still scheduled to release on November 3, 2023.
