Bond 25 Gets Danny Boyle On Board As Director, Filming Date Revealed

Finally, there’s some new update about the next James Bond installment titled Bond 25. Longtime James Bond film producers Michael G Wilson and Barbara Broccoli recently announced that Oscar-winner director Danny Boyle will helm the 25th installment of the franchise. Boyle will direct the project based on a script written by his Trainspotting screenwriting partner John Hodge.

Daniel Craig will be seen reprising his role of MI6 agent James Bond in the upcoming film. This will be Craig’s fifth appearance as the British spy. The actor essayed the character in the 2006 film Casino Royale, in 2008’s Quantum of Solace, in 2012’s Skyfall and in 2015’s Spectre.

While fans considered Skyfall to be one of the franchise’s best installments, the Sam Mendes directed film Spectre was not well received by audiences as well as critics. The 2015 Bond film grossed a total of $880.7 million at the global box office.

It has also been revealed that Universal Pictures has landed international distribution rights of the 25th installment of the super-spy franchise, while MGM and Annapurna have got the film’s domestic distribution rights. The digital and worldwide television rights will also be retained by MGM.

Notably, Sony’s deal as the Bond distributor expired with the franchise’s 2015 film Spectre after which major studios like Warner Bros. and Paramount were vying for the distribution rights for the next Bond film.

The production and shooting of Bond 25 will likely begin at Pinewood Studios in London sometime in December this year. Bond 25 will first get released in the UK on October 25, 2019, and then in the U.S. where it will debut on November 8, 2019.

More information about the film’s storyline, plot details, and cast members are expected to come up in the coming months.
