It looks like the upcoming Bumblebee movie is the type of Transformers movie that fans have been waiting for years. Though many in the fandom remained skeptical of its success, the critics are already hailing it as the best Transformer film in the franchise. At the moment, Bumblebee also has a 100% Positive score on Rotten Tomatoes.
While the prequel movie is almost 2 weeks away from its release, Paramount has released over 30 new hi-res stills from the movie giving a glimpse of what fans can expect of it.
The below images aren’t necessarily heavy in spoilers but instead tease some of the action sequences that are sure to please the Michael Bay fans. The rest of the stills are of Hailee Steinfeld as Charlie, John Cena as Agent Burns and the Decepticon namely Dropkick, Shatter and Blitzwing that Bumblebee will be going up against.
Shatter has mainly received quite the spotlight as she’s a female Decepticon and is presumably the first major female Transformer in the live-action franchise.
Few behind-the-scenes images also show director Travis Knight on set. You can check out the stills below.
Bumblebee movie also had a huge presence at the recent CCXP 2018 (Brazil Comic-con).
The prequel Transformers movie has fierce competition with other titles such as Aquaman and Mary Poppins Returns. So far, its box office opening weekend projections have been low. Perhaps, the early positive reviews could get the numbers up higher before its release. Just two weeks after its U.S. premiere.
In any case, the film’s earnings will get a big bump when it releases in Chinese theatres on Jan 4, 2019 (via Variety).
The Transformers movies are known for raking a lot of dollars in China. Even last year’s Transformers: The Last Knight only earned $99 million in the US whereas it raked in $229 million in China.
The fate of Bumblebee movie will be determined by the fans when it hits theatres on December 21.
