Filming work on Marvel’s highly anticipated first female superhero film, Captain Marvel, has finally finished. Academy Award-winning actress Brie Larson, who plays Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel, took to Twitter to announce the film’s wrap up. She posted a picture of a clapperboard that showed July 6 as the final day of filming, the same day Ant-Man and the Wasp premiered in theaters.
Captain Marvel co-director Ryan Fleck also confirmed about the shooting wrap up on Instagram. Fleck posted the picture of a call sheet for the final day of filming, along with the caption, “We got next.” You can check out social media posts below.
Earlier last Tuesday, a casting call uncovered by us did hint at July 6 as the last day of filming. It looks like Larson was also primarily part of the filming that took place on the last day.
Now that the shooting work has finished, Captain Marvel will officially head into the post-production phase. So, fans can expect the first teaser to roll out in the next few months. As Marvel has already announced that it has decided to skip this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, it’s pretty safe to assume that the first real look at Brie Larson’s Carol Danvers will not be out soon.
Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige did state that the first trailer for Captain Marvel will not come out until later in the year.
Talking more about Captain Marvel, the film will be set in the 1990s. It will follow Carol Danvers’ path from being an Air Force pilot to one of the universe’s most powerful heroes after her DNA gets accidentally fused with that of a Kree alien. In the MCU timeline, Captain Marvel follows Ant-Man and the Wasp and precedes the Avengers: Infinity War sequel in 2019. The film will mark the penultimate installment of MCU’s Phase 3.
Along with Larson, the film also stars Samuel L. Jackson, Jude Law, Clark Gregg, Gemma Chan, Djimon Hounsou, Lee Pace, Ben Mendelsohn, Lashana Lynch, McKenna Grace, and Algenis Perez Soto.
Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck directed Captain Marvel which will arrive in theatres on March 8, 2019.
