While fans were expecting to see Captain Marvel’s cinematic debut in Marvel Studios’ upcoming film, Avengers: Infinity War, the same is not going to happen. It is finally confirmed that Brie Larson’s Carol Danvers a.ka. Captain Marvel will not be seen sharing screen space with other major Marvel superheroes.
The news that Brie Larson’s hero was making a debut in Avengers: Infinity War started making rounds after directors Joe and Anthony Russo’s comments on the same surfaced online. But, it turns out the Russo brothers’ quotes are outdated. Notably, the Russos stated at San Diego Comic-Con 2017 that Captain Marvel won’t appear in Infinity War. The ET interview in question was conducted last year before the July 27 Comic-Con panel.
A report coming from IGN has confirmed that the plan for Captain Marvel changed mid-development. Initially, Captain Marvel was meant to be in the both of the next two Avengers films.
Details from the report also revealed that props connected to the female character were spotted on set. It confirms that Brie Larson did in fact film scenes playing the character for the threequel. However, later, the makers ultimately decided to save her introduction for Avengers 4, opting to let her standalone film introduce her instead. So, it is now assumed that Carol Danvers will appear in Avengers 4, which is set to release in May 2019, only three months after her solo movie, Captain Marvel, debuts in March.
Screenwriter Stephen Markus also had some surprising details to reveal about Carol Danvers which teases what fans might have got to see in Infinity War. It looks like Captain Marvel has more similarities with Captain America or at least the optimism that he had before.
“[Captain Marvel is] in some ways the closest to Captain America which is a weird, now rare kind of character which is sort of a person who’s right and knows they’re right and doesn’t really want to hear it when you tell them they’re wrong, So, with all these flawed, f***ed up people and Quill who’s a mess and Tony who’s a massive ego all contorted. It’s fun to get another person with a clear vision in there and going, ‘Shut up.’”
Talking more about Avengers: Infinity War, Marvel Studios is heavily promoting its upcoming superhero big budget movie. The studio has put up enormous Avengers: Infinity War billboard in Los Angeles, California.
Notably, the makers have already warned fans that some of their favorite superheroes might get killed in the film. The question that is bothering the fans is which of the Marvel characters will meet their fate in the upcoming movie.
We will get to know more about the film’s interesting elements when it opens in theatres next month on April 27th.
