Captain Marvel Whereabouts Hints Her Importance In The Avengers Story Arc

Captain Marvel will be added into the world of MCU by 2019. It was earlier revealed that the character’s standalone origin film will take place in the 1990s. but currently, fans are curious to know the whereabouts of the character (Carol Danvers) during all the events that took place so far in the Marvel Cinematic Universe after the 90s. Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige, put this question to rest in an amazing way at the San Diego Comic-Con.

In the ten years that Marvel Studios kick-started their interconnected franchise, they have close to 20 films under its banner apart from few others waiting in the queue. In all these years, nobody from the Marvel Cinematic Universe ever mentioned that there could be another superhero who could have probably helped the others in their fight against the evil forces. However, we now have an answer for that.

During a recent interview with io9, Kevin Feige dropped some hints on Captain Marvel (played by Brie Larson) whereabouts after her origin film. When Lussier mentioned that introducing a character all of a sudden might confuse fans, Feige intervened, “The key is…’out there,’” and went on to raise his arms in the air.

This is a major teaser coming from the head of Marvel indicating that the superheroine was out there in space during the time that Avengers were being formed on Earth and even before Iron Man came into existence. This also yet again hints at the character’s prominence in untitled Avengers 4 movie since she is one of the few characters that has knowledge over beings such as Skrulls, Kree and the Universe in a larger context. As Feige also pointed out, “The Key” lies above in space. That makes sense, but what about the age factor that doesn’t quite fall in right!

When Carol Denver joins the rest of the superheroes in Avengers 4, she should ideally be 20-30 years older than she was in her 1990 set solo film. But that’s not the case since Larson is far too young to portray such an older character. There have been speculations that some form of time travel or the fact that the character is part Kree could play a role in portraying the superheroine young for the present MCU timeline. But for official details, Fans would have to wait for the missing link until Captain Marvel hits the theater in 2019.

Captain Marvel’s plot is set in the 90s and will feature Nick Fury essayed by Samuel L. Jackson, and the villains Skrulls. The Kree-Skrull War will be included in the film too. Kree superhero Mar-Vel, the original Captain Marvel from the comics might also make his appearance.

Captain Marvel is to be helmed by two directors, Anna Boden, and Ryan Fleck and will star Brie Larson as Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel and Samuel L. Jackson Nick Fury. The script is written by Geneva Robertson-Dworet based on an earlier draft by Nicole Perlman and Meg LeFauve.

Captain Marvel is expected to release on March 8, 2019.
