CCXP 2022 Day 3 recap: DCU’s surprise Blue Beetle panel, Netflix’s Sandman season 2, The Witcher: Blood Origin, John Wick 4, Prime Video’s The Boys spin-off Gen V & more Brazil Comic-con highlights

Warner Bros. surprise panel for Blue Beetle at CCXP 2022 Day 3 was one of the highlights of the event for DCU fans and the same can be said for Netflix’s Sandman season 2 discussion, Lionsgate bringing in Keanu Reeves for the John Wick 4 presentation, while Prime Video offered the much-anticipated trailer for The Boys spin-off, Gen V series, and lots more. The below article is a recap of the best announcements unveiled on the thunder stage of Brazil’s Comic Con Experience 2022. 

The long exhilarating CCXP 2022 Day 3 did not disappoint attendees that were still riding on the high from Day 1’s Disney panel featuring Marvel Studios, Lucasfilm & more presentations. For Day 3, the Brazil Comic-Con’s Thunder stage, which is equivalent to SDCC’s Hall-H – had studios like Lionsgate and streaming giants Netflix and Prime Video showcasing their upcoming line-ups. 

While the CCXP attendees were awaiting Reeves’ entry, the third day of Brazil Comic-Con in São Paulo kicked off with the Blue Beetle panel along with star Bruna Marquezine and Xolo Maridueña as surprise guests. CCXP 2022 Day 3 Attendees were given an official poster featuring the alien scarab that grants Jaime Reyes his superhero abilities. The title art for Blue Beetle was also shown but in Portuguese and it gives a good picture of the DC Film’s stylized art design.

Keanu Reeves teases John Wick 5 at CCXP 2022 Day 3

Directed by Angel Manuel Soto, Blue Beetle is scheduled to hit theaters on August 18, 2023. The movie stars Susan Sarandon as Victoria Kord, the main villain. Marquezine’s Penny will appear as Jamie’s love interest.

Next up was Netflix which began its panel by handing out vibrant color sticks for attendees to flash in the air. The Recruit series was first on the list as Noah Centineo greeted the crowd with his presence. 

Netflix has released a 1-minute new clip from the spy thriller series which shows Centineo’s Owen Hendricks having a chat with Laura Haddock’s Max. The titular star is a newbie CIA Lawyer caught in the middle of a conspiracy due to a letter from his former asset, Max Meladze threatening to jeopardize the agency. 

The crowd’s enthusiasm on CCXP 2022 Day 3 for the thunder stage announcements doubled during The Witcher: Blood Origin panel after star Joey Batey made a surprising entrance and confirmed that his character, Dandelion would appear in the prequel show.  The panel featured Michelle Yeoh, Sophia Brown, and Laurence O’Fuarain and the cast unveiled the official trailer which also shows Batey appearing in the end. The series takes place in an Elven world, 1,200 years before the events of The Witcher. 

With the Blood Origin panel bowing out, Netflix’s Sandman presentation began with cast members Gwendoline Christie, Kirby Howell-Baptiste and Vivienne Acheampong. CCXP’s thunder stage crowd got to experience an exclusive screening of a deleted scene from Sandman season 1. According to Collider’s Steven Weintraub, it shows Death and Sandman taking a stroll and Death talking about the ” first time she took a day to be alive”. 

While creator Neil Gaiman couldn’t physically be at CCXP 2022 Day 3, he had a video message in which he assures exploring more members from The Endless and that includes Delirium. Netflix’s panel concluded after presenting the recently premiered Wednesday show with the main star Jenna Ortega.

Finally, it was time for The Last of us panel which had showrunner Neil Druckmann and stars Pedro Pascal, Craig Mazin and Bella Ramsey. Speaking of which, the HBO Max series also had a massive activation zone built out for attendees to walk in and experience an “important location” from the post-apocalyptic setting series.

Prime Video had the next 2 hours scheduled for its upcoming releases, starting with the sci-fi series, The Peripheral and Chloë Grace Moretz was on stage with executive producer Lisa Joy. The streaming network then featured the Gen V official logo and premiered the official trailer, giving a glimpse of Vought’s upcoming bright superheroes currently living out their lives as students but not it’s not a Boys spin-off without its signature blood and gore-filled elements.  

Lastly, it was time for Keanu Reeves to walk out on stage and present John Wick Chapter 4. A neo-noir-esque character poster featuring the menacing Baba Yaga was handed out. A separate digital poster was released for audiences worldwide as well.  

While discussing the fourth installment, Reeves also shared his experience filming the project over a span of five months in different locations, like shooting a big action scene in Paris which happens in Arc de Triomphe. While Reeves stated that the team behind the franchise “ made it like it was gonna be our last” – the star also shared an optimistic update on the possibility of a John Wick 5.
