Charlie Cox’s Daredevil is finally a part of the MCU with Marvel Studios reportedly developing a Daredevil series to release on Disney Plus. The news has Marvel fanatics thrilled with even Netflix’s showrunner for Daredevil Season 3, Erik Olsen sharing his excitement.
After a brief cameo appearance in Spider-Man: No Way Home, Cox seems all set to return as the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen in his own series for Disney Plus. A report from Variety states Matt Corman and Chris Ord are on board to write and executive produce a Daredevil show. Though work seems to be in the early stages as there’s no detail regarding cast, showrunner, etc.
Daredevil fans, especially the community that fought tooth and nail for its revival by starting a whole new movement are delighted yet also hoping the new series is up to par with Netflix’s grounded adaptation. Also, series star Amy Rutberg who played Marci Stahl responded to the news too. Readers can check out reactions below.
Thrilled to learn that #Daredevil lives on! Best cast and best fan base EVER! https://t.co/6Cm0BV0mY2

We know y’all have a LOT of thoughts, feelings and questions about the new #Daredevil – WE DO TOO + we’ll livestream about it soon – but as a team, we want to take a moment to say THANK YOU for sticking with #SaveDaredevil until we could finally say #WeSavedDaredevil 😈 pic.twitter.com/PbmW4cmM0W

I know we’re nervous about the #Daredevil Disney+ series because the Netflix series has made our expectations so high, but just take a moment to appreciate that he’s back. Charlie Cox’s Daredevil is back, and he’s here to stay!

Good luck to this creative team who is fighting a massive uphill battle to win over the fans of the Netflix #Daredevil original series, which in many ways, is an impossible feat. https://t.co/ctVNcA5xlC

I’m not expecting the #Daredevil Disney+ series to be better than the Netflix series. If you go in thinking it will be, you’re setting yourself up for disappointment. But it has the potential to be good. If it is better, I’ll be pleasantly surprised! That’s my mindset. pic.twitter.com/thPCNfdrVe

It’s also probably not a coincidence the #Daredevil series is announced right as #SheHulk starts its marketing cycle.

People are gonna lose their shit when #Daredevil actually has his super-agility and is able to traverse buildings. Netflix was essentially the bootleg version of Murdock…lol pic.twitter.com/rq1QYQddsh

It’s unclear if the new treatment will be a soft reboot of sorts or a direct continuation of the Netflix project. Nonetheless, Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin is one character we can rest assured to see in the show and would likely address his Hawkeye appearance as well as connection to Alaqua Cox’s Echo. Speaking of whom, the actor is currently filming for the series of the same name and a first look at the spin-off was released.
Some insiders were also intrigued by the coincidence of Daredevil news arriving the same week the She-Hulk trailer debuted. Could the two lawyers possibly team up to represent the superhuman division? Well, Matt Murdock already has by representing Peter Parker in No Way Home. It will be an interesting crossover since early rumors indicated Daredevil would have cameos in other Marvel shows, including She-Hulk.
The first three seasons of Daredevil are currently on Disney Plus in the US but the series is not available in countries like India yet.
