CinemaCon 2023 Day 4 recap: Paramount pictures panel teases TMNT Mayhem, Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon teaser reaction, Transformers: One, Avatar: The Last Airbender movie & more

From TMNT Mutant Mayhem to Mission Impossible – Dead Reckoning, the Paramount Pictures panel at CinemaCon 2023 Day 4 was a reminder to audiences and theatre owners of the potential blockbusters on the horizon for 2023 and beyond. While exhibiting life-size statues of Autobots and Deceptions for the upcoming entry Transformers: Rise of the Beasts took the spotlight, the few CinemaCon exclusive first-look teasers for Martin Scorsese‘s Killers of the Flower Moon and John Krasinski‘s A Quiet Place: Day One also had a similar effect on attendees. Here’s a recap of the best announcements from the final day of the cinema industry event.

It looks like the Paramount Pictures panel at CinemaCon 2023 Day 4 left audiences with an exhilarating feeling going by the updates. Starting off with TMNT Mutant Mayhem, Seth Rogen arrived on stage while a studio exec made quite an entrance by rising out of a manhole cover and donning a turtle mask to offer pizzas to the crowd at CinemaCon.

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Mutant Mayhem panel opened with a dance performance featuring a DJ and a group of breakdancers wearing TMNT-inspired outfits. Audiences were then treated with 4 and half minute trailer teasing all the villains namely Leatherhead, Superfly, Gehngis Frog, Mondo Gecko and more.

Paramount Pictures boss Brian Robbins received a fruitful response while discussing the films they have lined up for 2024 such as Gladiator 2, Smile 2 with the biggest applause from CinemaCon for Sonic the Hedgehog 3.

Next, the Paramount animation team took the CinemaCon podium to announce Transformers One, an animated movie set for July 19, 2024. The film will feature a star-studded cast namely Chris Hemsworth as Young Optimus, Scarlett Johansson as Elita, Jon Hamm as Sentinel Prime, Brian Tyree Henry as Megatron and Laurence Fishburne as Alpha Trion and Keegan-Michael Key as Bumblebee.

A placeholder artwork and title card were shown on the screen at CinemaCon with cast members for Transformers: One. Paramount animation president Ramsey Naito also touted their upcoming movies like Spongebob 4 and the untitled Avatar: The Last Airbender movie, stating – “This movie will blow you away”. The animation department drew all eyes to the stage with a surprise appearance from Rihanna for Chris Miller‘s The Smurfs musical. The music artist and actress will voice as Smurfette.

A rough cut trailer for Paw Patrol: The Mighty movie was shown as well which has Chris Rock, Kim Kardashian and her kids North and Saint starring. After Paramount’s animation team exited the arena – it was time for Transformers: Rise of the Beasts.

The Transformers movie panel was ushered in by playing Optimus Prime’s voice greeting CinemaCon with a “hello” from Peter Cullen. He introduced Transformers: Rise of the Beasts director Steven Caple Jr. The helmer confirmed the upcoming title takes place after the events of 2018’s Bumblebee and discussed filming sequences in outside locations rather than behind a green screen, the project was also shot in Iceland.

Transformers: Rise of Beasts star Anthony Ramos and Dominique Fishback also joined the director on stage. They then showcased the trailer which has also debuted for online viewing.

With the Transformers universe out of the way, it was time for Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon trailer. Footage description from reporters that attended the event such as Jeff Sneider states the movie “positions Leo [Decaprio] as the lead.” Jesse Plemons‘ Tom White plays a Lawman who investigates a series of Osage murders and appears at the end of the trailer.

Killers of the Flower Moon received applause from the entire theater at CinemaCon according to Steven Weintraub, which is a rarity. While Killers of the Flower Moon is an Apple Original Film, it also has a theatrical release window, “This is a big screen movie and that’s what we made, as you’ll see…” said the auteur director, according to Erik Davis.

The CinemaCon stage was next taken over by Ziggy Marley to introduce the first trailer for Bob Marley: One Love directed by Reinaldo Marcus Green. Kingsley Ben-Adir portrays Marley. The trailer has received a positive reaction from the crowd with some like journalist Daniel Howat calling it dramatic and filled with “lots of love, lots of pain”.

John Krasinski then arrived on the podium to offer a first look at A Quiet Place: Day One, directed by Michael Sarnoski which is set in New York City. The trailer shows Lupita Nyong’o’s character on a bus when the aliens drop from the sky and chaos unleashes.

Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning screening & teaser for Killers of the Flower Moon were highlight of CinemaCon 2023 Day 4

The tagline for the promo goes, “Witness the day the world went quiet.” The teaser has received its nod of approval from critics but the project is still a long way from its March 8, 2024 release.

Krasinski was not done yet since the actor cum filmmaker was also there to introduce the IF movie, a project he directed. The feature is a mix of live-action packed with animated characters. The plot centers around a young girl who begins to see imaginary friends that were abandoned by the kids who grew up. The movie also stars Ryan Reynolds.

With all the announcements and trailer promotions wrapped up – it was time for Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One. Starting with a new trailer, the panel was followed up by showcasing a 20-minute sequence from Mission Impossible 7.

Footage description for Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One describes the 20-minute sequence as a chase scene that involves Tom Cruise and Hayley Atwell in a yellow Fiat 500.

Hayley Atwell plays Grace who steals a key without realizing the repercussion and attracts a lot of trouble -forcing her to team up with Ethan Hunt. Pom Klementieff‘s character plays the main villain and Ethan is being targeted by two different factions with Shea Whigham‘s Jasper Briggs one of the groups after them.
