Clark Gregg Is Back For Filming Of ‘Captain Marvel’ As Agent Coulson

Marvel Studios’ female superhero flick Captain Marvel is well into production in Los Angeles. The film studio has already announced that the upcoming film will see the return of Marvel Cinematic Universe veteran Clark Gregg. Notably, Gregg will be seen reprising the fan-favorite character of Agent Phil Coulson who was killed by Loki in Joss Whedon’s The Avengers but was later shown to have survived the incident in Agents of S..H.I.E.L.D.

The Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. star recently took to Instagram to tease his return in the MCU as Agent Coulson. He posted a picture of himself on the film’s set standing in front of a door sign that read “N. Fury” which stands for Nick Fury.

“New job, old friends,” Gregg captioned the photo and tagged it “#captainmarvel”.

Notably, Samuel L. Jackson will also make a reappearance in the film as a young Nick Fury. As Captain Marvel is set in the 1990’s, the film is taking place long before Coulson’s first appearance in Iron Man. Coulson’s appearance in the film will give fans some more information about the character’s history. Fans will also get to see the early days of his friendship with Fury. Gregg currently stars in ABC’s Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.  As per reports, filming on season 5 of the popular television series is already close to getting wrapped up. So, Gregg may have finished his part of the shoot with the TV series and is now set to begin filming for Captain Marvel. Guardians of the Galaxy actors Lee Pace and Djimon Hounsou have also been cast in the upcoming Marvel film along with Ben Mendelsohn, Rune Temte, Gemma Chan, Mckenna Grace and Lashana Lynch.

Directed by Anna Boden & Ryan Fleck, Captain Marvel is the story of Carol Danvers (Brie Larson) who is an Air Force pilot. It is when she meets with an accident that her DNA gets mixed with that of a Kree alien and she transforms into one of the universe’s most powerful heroes. The film crew is next expected to shoot in Fresno.

Captain Marvel is scheduled to premiere in theaters on March 8, 2019.
