Daniel Dae Kim In Talks To Play Ben Daimio In Hellboy Reboot

Lionsgate and Millennium’s Hellboy reboot seems to have finally found a replacement to play the Asian-American character known as Ben Daimio. It has been revealed that Daniel Dae Kim is in talks to be cast as negotiations are underway.

According to THR, Dae Kim would replace Ed Skrein who was originally cast for the role. After receiving a backlash of whitewashing, the English actor decided to step back and resigned to give the opportunity for a different suitable cast.

Skrein made the surprising announcement on social media by posting a statement to clarify fans that he was not aware that the character was Asian-American in the original comics. He went on to state that he would be stepping down from the role.

Following Skrein’s move, Lionsgate also put out a statement to ensure masses that the next actor would be more suitable for the role.

“It was not our intent to be insensitive to issues of authenticity and ethnicity, and we will look to recast the part with an actor more consistent with the character in the source material.”

Skrien’s departure received him at most praise from fans as well as people from the showbiz. It looks like Dae Kim being the replacement would also be well received for casting an appropriate actor for the role.

Dae Kim recently departed from CBS’ Hawaii Five-0 due to issues with salary as the actor asked for an equal pay. It’s no doubt that Dae Kim would be perfect for playing the role of Major Ben Daimio.

Hellboy reboot is all set to be helmed by director Neil Marshall.  Stranger Things actor David Harbour will be playing the lead role in the film.
