Daredevil actor Deborah Ann Woll on if she’s involved in MCU’s reboot series: “had more to say about Karen”

While Disney Plus’ Daredevil Born Again series will see the return of Charlie Cox as the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen & Vincent D’Onofrio as Wilson Fisk – there’s no word yet if Deborah Ann Woll’s Karen Page will return as either a secretary of Nelson & Murdock or a reporter for New York Bulletin. Although fans have long campaigned to see her reprise the role, the True Blood actress recently revealed she’s yet to receive a phone call from Marvel Studios.

Daredevil has already left his mark on the Marvel Cinematic Universe and She-Hulk: Attorney at Law is proof of that. Even so, Matt Murdock’s presence in MCU films like Spider-Man: No Way Home and Marvel TV shows has not resulted in the rest of the Netflix Marvel casts’ return, especially Elodie Yung‘s Elektra. In fact, the 18-episode season one is scheduled to kick off principal photography in Feb 2023 but has not approached Ann Woll, yet.

The Marvel actor was on Michael Rosenbaum‘s Inside of You podcast where she was asked about her potential involvement in Daredevil Born Again. While her optimism to continue Karen Page’s story reassures her interest in the character, Marvel has not contacted her, or better put the actress was not approached prior to this interview from last month.

“I can say this: they have not called me yet. So as of now, I am not a part of it. I would be thrilled to get to be a part of it. They know where I am,” Woll told Rosenbaum. “Like I said, I love the character Karen Page. I love telling that story. I feel like I have more to say. But it is up to them what kind of story that they want to tell.” Deborah also added there’s more to Karen’s story and her arc was on road to being explored before its cancellation.

“I would say no, partially because the Marvel series feel unfinished to me because we got canceled when we thought we were going to have more,” she continued. “There’s a part of me that was like, ‘I had more to say about Karen,’ and I felt I was in the middle of that story.”

Karen Page’s prominence was not only pivotal for the Daredevil series but was also important in The Punisher starring Jon Bernthal, in Netflix’s Marvel universe. A rumor from September claimed actor Elden Henson was signed on to reprise as Foggy Nelson but there’s no official word so far.

On the bright side, Daredevil Born Again is still a work in progress with a writer’s room working on the script. The series is scheduled to stream in the Spring of 2024 and its production is expected to wrap up in December. So there’s plenty of time for Marvel to consider their option as well as for fans to voice their interest.
