Daredevil: Born Again seems to be introducing a new love interest character for Matt Murdock in Nikki M. James or at least that’s what a new insider report claims. The Disney Plus series is currently in production and an earlier set image of Charlie Cox and the Severance star had raised speculation she may be playing Daredevil’s district assistant attorney friend, a character who eventually dates Matt Murdock in the comic run.

She-Hulk might be facing competition from another one of Matt Murdock’s romantic interests in Daredevil: Born Again. According to a new claim by credible scooper CanWeGetSomeToast, sources from the set confirmed Nikki M. James plays Kirsten McDuffie.
While fans have been eagerly hoping for Elden Helson‘s Foggy Nelson & Deborah Ann Woll‘s Karen Page to return as Matt’s friends/lawyer partners, Marvel Studios may have found another character to fit that role in Kirsten McDuffie. The character is known for pestering Matt playfully trying to make him reveal he is the Daredevil.
If Marvel decides to explore their love interest, it may arrive at a later point in the series so the two characters could initially develop their bond in Daredevil: Born Again season 1. Netflix’s Daredevil went in a similar route with Karen Page while also dabbling with Matt’s relationship with Elektra (Elodie Yung).

There is also the possibility for Born Again to explore a love triangle of sorts with Jennifer Walters and Kirsten McDuffie. Though it’s unlikely to spend a large amount of screentime on it – with a possible TV-MA rating, the series is expected to focus largely on Daredevil facing off against Kingpin (Vincent D’Onofrio) with Punisher playing a pivotal role.
Still, the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen is known for his several romantic entanglements over the years, much like She-Hulk. It will be interesting to see Marvel Studios play around Matt’s love life since She-hulk’s dating life in Attorney at Law was one of the highlights of the show among fans.
Meanwhile, there has been some indication of Foggy Nelson scenes being filmed for the reboot Daredevil series. insider CWGST stated that a crew member confirmed the series shot sequences with the character but since Nelson’s name was not mentioned, it’s also possible the role was recast so fans are advised to take this rumor with a grain of salt.
Daredevil: Born Again is set to release sometime in the spring of 2024.
