‘Daredevil is in 3 episodes..’: MCU fans hyped for Echo series reportedly including Netflix Marvel Heroes Jessica Jones plot & Kingpin’s return

Echo series will be the next MCU title exploring Charlie Cox’s Daredevil, Vincent D’Onofrio‘s Kingpin and insiders also indicate a Jessica Jones reference is tied into Matt Murdock’s plot. As expected, Defender fans are thrilled by the announcement, and some are even hopeful this could lead to Luke Cage (Mike Colter), The Punisher (Jon Bernthal) and Iron Fist’s (Finn Jones) revival too.

It seems like Krysten Ritter’s cryptic Jessica Jones-related posts were really a tease for her Marvel Cinematic Universe arrival, and her first MCU nod is reportedly in Echo series, reports The Weekly Planet. THR first broke news of Cox and D’Onofrio’s involvement in the Alaqua Cox’s Maya Lopez centred series – indicating the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen will be searching for his former partner but there’s no information if Ritter will appear as Jones in Echo.

TWP also stated Daredevil is in three episodes and Kingpin in four episodes. Wilson Fisk will also be running for mayor in New York City. The only reported change in appearance is an eye patch. Fans would remember Fisk’s encounter with Lopez in the Hawkeye series that cost him his eye, and initially prompted queries if Marvel killed off the character. And speaking of the fan’s favorite blind lawyer, the street-level superhero will don a red and black suit. Though Marvel Studios is yet to officially divulge any details – it isn’t stopping fans from cheering on the Netflix made Marvel heroes’ inclusion in Phase 4.

Jessica Jones’ return also instilled hope among Agents of SHIELD fans for QUAKE

It should be noted a Daredevil series is also in development so it will be interesting to see the groundwork laid out for Matt Murdock in Echo. This will be Cox’s second appearance in MCU after Spider-Man: No Way Home though it barely referenced his abilities. With Marvel Studios confirmed for SDCC, its possible Kevin Feige could address the future of Defenders characters.

Echo production is ongoing in Atlanta but the series does not have a release date attached yet.  The story will follow Lopez’s journey to her hometown to reconnect with her Native American route.  Marion Dayre is the head writer with Sydney Freeland and Catriona McKenzie helming the episodes.
