Marvel never fails to connect its television shows and movies, all thanks to Easter eggs that create a sense of shared continuity. Well, its done it once again in Daredevil season 3 with a reference pointing to Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 4.
Daredevil Season 3 showcased a lot of scenes set inside the New York Bulletin, a prestigious local paper, where Karen Page works. The Bulletin walls contain framed clippings of major stories that recognize various moments in the MCU history and are often a source of Easter eggs. As noticed by Screen Rant, a new story with the headline “Blackout cripples NY” has found a place on the wall this season, quite close to Karen’s desk.
The story is likely linked to the 2017 March blackouts, associated with a severe thunderstorm. The moment in question has a connection with Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 4 episode 3 titled “Uprising” which saw the anti-Inhuman terrorist group, the Watchdogs, using electromagnetic pulses to shut down power in several cities, including New York.
It is expected that blackout mentioned in the article posted on the New York Bulletin wall in Daredevil season 3 could be the same which was depicted in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 4. It looks like they were quite proud of their coverage on the blackout and decided to frame the story.
Meanwhile, during an interview with CNET at the recently held New York Comic Con, Marvel Television head Jeph Loeb revealed where the new Daredevil season is set in the MCU relative to Avengers: Infinity War. He also explained why exactly the creators decided to have the series take place pre-snap.
“This is a story that would take place before the snap,” Loeb said adding “It just is easier for us to be able to maintain our continuity.”
Daredevil season 3, starring Charlie Cox, Deborah Ann Woll, Vincent D’Onofrio, Elden Henson, Wilson Bethel, Lesley Ann Warren, and Jay Ali, is currently available to stream on Netflix.
