DC fans react to Dylan O’Brien replacing Ezra Miller’s The Flash rumor

DC fans react to Dylan O’Brien replacing Ezra Miller’s The Flash rumor

Ezra Miller’s controversy continues to put many DC fans on the fence with some even rooting for the Justice League star’s replacement from The Flash movie. But a large fan following has also stood by him hoping the actor finds mental health support. Amid this turmoil, a new report claimed Dylan O’Brien would replace Miller for the speedster role, setting off dissent on social media.

The Flash movie is currently in post-production after just wrapping up principal photography last October. But the ongoing legal trouble for Miller, prompting recasting rumors has gained traction once again after Screen Geek reported that WB is considering replacing him with The Maze Runner star.

The shocking rumor was struck down by Variety’s senior reporter stating that the studio is “not” considering replacing the Fantastic Beasts actor. Since then, the news has many contemplating if the studio should or shouldn’t hire a new actor to play DC’s speedster. Readers can check out reactions below.

Warner Bros. barely dodged bad PR from Miller’s controversy during the Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore premiere. And the Harry Potter spinoff franchise is already caught in the crossfire for replacing Johnny Depp.

For those unaware, Miller was arrested earlier on March 27 for disorderly conduct at a bar in Hawaii. The actor was also slapped with a restraining order for threatening a Hawaiian couple. Furthermore, Ezra was arrested in April for a second-degree assault for allegedly throwing a chair at a 26-year-old woman. Since then, neither the studio nor the star’s publicist has responded to the incident. In fact, Warner Bros. didn’t address the issue during the screening of the sizzle reel for The Flash at CinemaCon 2022.

Speaking of O’Brien, the actor is heavily rumored to be playing Nightwing in Batgirl. Though insider/film journalist Umberto Gonzalez says he has not been officially cast in the role. Fans have long campaigned to see him play as the former Boy Wonder taking on the Nightwing mantle.

The Flash hits theatres on June 23, 2023.
