DC fans wonder why Warner Bros. didn’t present Batgirl, Aquaman 2, Batman 2 at SDCC Hall-H

DC fans wonder why Warner Bros. didn’t present Batgirl, Aquaman 2, Batman 2 at SDCC Hall-H

Warner Bros. DCEU panel at Hall-H was largely called-out for its mediocre presentation on Saturday, leaving many wondering why Batgirl, Matt ReevesThe Batman 2, James Wan’s Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom & Ezra Miller starrer The Flash were not presented during their panel. Black Adam and Shazam! Fury of the Gods were the only two DC films discussed at the extravagant Comic-Con event.

After Warner Bros. theatrical panel at San Diego Comic-Con, it may seem like there aren’t many DC films in development though that statement is far from the truth. Recently, Blue Beetle movie wrapped filming and DCEU fans were more than thrilled to see Xolo Maridueña donning a comic-accurate Blue Beetle costume. Prior, Batgirl was in the spotlight during its production and drew a lot of eyes for Michael Keaton’s return as the Dark Knight. And on the topic of the caped crusader, Matt Reeves’ was reported to be working on The Batman 2 and a Penguin spinoff series with Colin Farrell is also in the works and more recently, Joaquin Phoenix confirmed Joker 2 was in active development.

With ample DC films in development, many fans are left puzzled over Warner Bros.’s decision to lay off presenting its upcoming slate while Marvel Studios unveiled its plans till Phase 6, titles releasing as far as 2025. It’s possible the new leadership at Warner Bros. Discovery decided to showcase only titles arriving this year, especially since WBD’s boss David Zaslav is on the lookout for a new Kevin Feige-type chief to head DC film’s brand. Moreover, the studio is in a deadlock within the DC fanbase with a large part of them hoping for the Snyderverse. Nonetheless, fans are making their opinion heard on social media as seen below.

Henry Cavill’s no-show at SDCC after the rumor mill was clearly felt during Black Adam’s panel. In fact, Dwayne Johnson’s comment regarding Superman, which may have implied Cavill might not play the role – had attendees booing. It’s still uncertain what the future lies for a potential crossover between the two powerhouses.

It also prompted many to wonder if the studio could bring back DCFanDome, which Deadline suggests is still happening this year. It can be argued the virtual event would be the perfect arena to involve Miller and Amber Heard, two controversial stars likely to face backlash if they are to appear on a Hall-H-type panel that attracts a massive crowd.

It remains to be seen if WBD decides to revive DCFanDome to unveil their future slate. It would be the perfect arena to reveal their DC head executive as well.
