DCEU fans discuss if Dan Lin should be DC Studio’s Kevin Feige & react to his Snyder fans Bot comment

Warner Bros. Discovery may have found their Kevin Feige in producer Dan Lin and the DCEU fandom has a lot to say about The Lego Batman movie producer currently engaged in discussions to clasp control over DC Films and TV division. But his recent bot comment during an interview raised questions regarding his stance on the Snyderverse and his potential plans for the superhero franchise.

Walter Hamada’s reign under Warner Bros. as the DC Films president is coming to an end and with it, WBD head David Zaslav may have found a successor to take over his duties. THR reports Lin’s team is currently discussing “salary, reporting structure” as well as what would become of the producer’s production company, Rideback. But DC fans are rather more interested in Lin’s intentions for the DC brand, taking into account he was in charge of the ambitious Justice League movie by director George Miller.

UPDATE: Negotiations with Dan Lin to oversee as DC chief broke in early September due to the producer’s responsibilities with his own company, Rideback

Lin was recently on The Ankler Hot Seat podcast interviewed by Janice Min and Tatiana Siegel and spoke in detail about his long desire to oversee the DC franchise. “When I first started my producing career in 2008 I was producing Justice League and that was with George Miller directing, I moved my family to Australia, I was gonna have a very different life and I was going to basically be overseeing the DC franchise, that got away.” The interview got sidelined when Siegel said “those crazy Snyderverse fans would’ve come after you” to which Lin seems to brush off with a jest saying “all those bots”.

Lin’s comment has already kicked off discourse with some insisting it’s a sign the producer will reset the Snyderverse timeline and start a new DC universe. But others have taken his Bot statement as a joke. Furthermore, Suicide Squad fans also pointed out that Lin was originally the producer that helped David Ayer‘s film get greenlit. Meanwhile, the general DC fandom is hopeful since Lin’s track record as a producer includes Oscar-nominated titles like The Two Popes and box office-raking blockbusters like Aladdin.

The DC Extended Universe is in a constant state of flux since Batgirl’s axing. Ben Affleck’s cameo as Batman for Aquaman 2 further complicates Michael Keaton’s caped crusader appearance in The Flash and top it all, Ezra Miller’s behavior has assured his exit after the standalone feature. Perhaps a soft reboot could be the fix the brand requires but approaching it with an X-Men: Days of Future Past type course correction could be the best business option for WBD to avoid further alienating its massive fanbase.
