DCEU fans react to Jacob Elordi rumored to play Superman in James Gunn’s DCU

The red cape donned by Henry Cavill for DCEU could be taken over by Jacob Elordi to play the young version of Superman if the latest rumor is to be believed. The Euphoria star is apparently being considered for the Clark Kent role a.k.a the last son of Krypton for the new Man of Steel movie which will be one of the titles to set off James Gunn‘s DCU banner.

With Gunn expected to roll out the details on some of the DC Studios projects this January, the anticipation among DC Film fans to know who’d play Superman has only amplified. While several names from Hollywood have been thrown around, The Kissing Booth star has been listed as many critics as well as fans’ choice to take over the role.

UPDATE: James Gunn has responded to the rumor, stating no one has been cast as Superman yet

So the new rumor from Deuxmoi has only added more flame to ongoing speculations that Jacob Elordi is on WBD and James Gunn’s radar. According to the submission posted on their social media profile, an anonymous WB executive claimed that “A certain Australian actor that was on a Netflix romcom trilogy and is currently on an HBO teen show is being looked at for the role of the new Man of Steel.” Although the source does not directly mention Elordi – fans have still assumed the actor was indeed the 25-year-old Aussie due to his involvement with the teen drama series Euphoria.

DCU fans are advised to take this news with a grain of salt as many of Deuxmoi’s anonymous submissions have turned out to be false. However, it should also be noted that the same gossip insider portal broke news on Lady Gaga playing Harley Quinn in Joker: Folie à Deux as well as Barry Keoghan’s cameo as the disfigured clown Prince of Crime in Matt Reeves’ The Batman.

Deuxmoi’s report even claims the release date for the new Superman movie is Summer 2025 and while James Gunn has revealed his working on the script, it states he’d also direct the project.

The general reaction to Jacob Elordi possibly replacing Superman has not been taken well by many while some have also thrown their support. But in fairness, the most loved iteration of Batman played by Ben Affleck also received the same treatment when the star was announced to play the caped crusader in Batman v Superman.

All we know so far is James Gunn’s Superman would explore his early life and his time as a cub reporter in Metropolis. Meanwhile, Snyderverse fans are still insisting on seeing the old DC Extended Universe explored with a new online movement, to sell Zack Snyder’s Justice League to Netflix.
