The red cape donned by Henry Cavill for DCEU could be taken over by Jacob Elordi to play the young version of Superman if the latest rumor is to be believed. The Euphoria star is apparently being considered for the Clark Kent role a.k.a the last son of Krypton for the new Man of Steel movie which will be one of the titles to set off James Gunn‘s DCU banner.
With Gunn expected to roll out the details on some of the DC Studios projects this January, the anticipation among DC Film fans to know who’d play Superman has only amplified. While several names from Hollywood have been thrown around, The Kissing Booth star has been listed as many critics as well as fans’ choice to take over the role.
UPDATE: James Gunn has responded to the rumor, stating no one has been cast as Superman yet
My thoughts are no one has been cast as Superman yet. Casting, as is almost always the case with me, will happen after the script is finished or close to finished, and it isn’t. We’ll announce a few things in not too long, but the casting of Superman won’t be one of them. 🧜♂️ https://t.co/2SGWV2RSI7

So the new rumor from Deuxmoi has only added more flame to ongoing speculations that Jacob Elordi is on WBD and James Gunn’s radar. According to the submission posted on their social media profile, an anonymous WB executive claimed that “A certain Australian actor that was on a Netflix romcom trilogy and is currently on an HBO teen show is being looked at for the role of the new Man of Steel.” Although the source does not directly mention Elordi – fans have still assumed the actor was indeed the 25-year-old Aussie due to his involvement with the teen drama series Euphoria.
DCU fans are advised to take this news with a grain of salt as many of Deuxmoi’s anonymous submissions have turned out to be false. However, it should also be noted that the same gossip insider portal broke news on Lady Gaga playing Harley Quinn in Joker: Folie à Deux as well as Barry Keoghan’s cameo as the disfigured clown Prince of Crime in Matt Reeves’ The Batman.
Rumor:
According to deuxmoi, they suggest Jacob Elordi is being looked at to play new #Superman & James Gunn may direct it.

I would not be surprised if the Jacob Elordi Superman rumor ends up being true. This casting would check a few boxes just like Pattison and Ledger did:
Young
(Former) Teenage Heartthrob
Good looking
Building a serious resume
Some name recognition
Fanboys will hate the news pic.twitter.com/9xgErQ55m5— Hector Navarro (@imhectornavarro) January 13, 2023

Jacob Elordi is Bruce Wayne, he gives me tortured soul vibes, he's not Clark Kent. If this is true then I hope I'm surprised cuz he's a great actor. https://t.co/2f3vTOFbVw

Rumor (take this with a grain of salt):
An Australian actor who was in a Netflix romcom trilogy and currently in an HBO teen series is being sought for the role of the new Man of Steel. The release date is summer 2025"

In light of the recent rumor of Jacob Elordi being sought out for the role of #DCU Clark Kent/Superman, I made this quick edit using a set pic of him from ‘Priscilla’. Ngl, I see the vision. Corenswet and Novogratz are still my top choices but I don’t think I’d be unhappy w/ this pic.twitter.com/2p53eLcaAU

@JamesGunn Hey Mr. Gunn I think you should really consider getting Jacob Elordi to play Red Hood I think he'd literally be perfect. He looks like he was born to play Red Hood and his performance in Euphoria was perfect for the role! pic.twitter.com/KReiSWAaox

Interesting.
Dexumoi don’t have a perfect track record but they have nailed DC castings in the past.
I’m not opposed to Jacob Elordi as Superman. I don’t love it, but I don’t hate it. pic.twitter.com/yatrv3wTwU

It’s Jacob Elordi.
He was in Netflix’s The Kissing Booth trilogy and has been on HBO’s Euphoria since 2019
I mean, I’d much prefer him as Batman, but I could absolutely see him as the next Superman. He’s not my top choice but I could see it. https://t.co/bBC0igfDtb pic.twitter.com/DIeyXk6yXg

Deuxmoi’s report even claims the release date for the new Superman movie is Summer 2025 and while James Gunn has revealed his working on the script, it states he’d also direct the project.
The general reaction to Jacob Elordi possibly replacing Superman has not been taken well by many while some have also thrown their support. But in fairness, the most loved iteration of Batman played by Ben Affleck also received the same treatment when the star was announced to play the caped crusader in Batman v Superman.
All we know so far is James Gunn’s Superman would explore his early life and his time as a cub reporter in Metropolis. Meanwhile, Snyderverse fans are still insisting on seeing the old DC Extended Universe explored with a new online movement, to sell Zack Snyder’s Justice League to Netflix.
