DC’s New Gods Movie Will Feature Darkseid, Confirms Director Ava DuVernay

Fans missed the opportunity to witness Zack Snyder’s adaptation of Darkseid or to be more precise, Uxas in Justice League. But fortunately, we will still get to see a different version of the character as Director Ava DuVernay has confirmed that the ruler of Apokolips will appear in DC’s New Gods movie.

Currently, Warner Bros. and DC films have 5 films in development under the DC Extended Universe with its release dates set till 2022. But there are still many other projects in early development stages and one of them is DC’s New Gods–a movie based on Jack Kirby’s creations which will be directed by Ava DuVernay.

For a long time, there was no official word on the project’s progress though that didn’t stop the director from assuring fans that she is actively working on the movie. But earlier this May, we received our first confirmation that DC’s New Gods is inching closer to moving past its early development stage when it was announced that comic book writer Tom King will co-write the script along DuVernay.

DC’s New Gods is expected to feature multiple characters such as Granny Goodness, Desaad, Godfrey and even incorporate Mister Miracle and Big Barda’s love story. But one of the characters that fans’ are eagerly hoping to see in the movie is DC’s trump card villain, Darkseid– and during an AMA on Twitter, AvaDuVernay was asked the same question and the director confirmed his appearance. Furthermore, the previously rumored, The Furies are also part of the movie.

DC’s New Gods does not have an official release date assigned yet and it shouldn’t come as a surprise as DuVernay and King are just in the process of penning the script. It is certainly going to be a time-consuming process and fans will have to wait longer for any sort of casting announcements.
