DCU’s Kingdom Come style Superman logo revealed, James Gunn reveals title change, Lois Lane actress shares set clip

James Gunn‘s iteration of Superman has finally materialized with the cast & crew kicking off principal photography earlier this week. Thanks to the “unplanned” commemoration of the Man of Steel’s birthday on February 29 – the director also unveiled an official hi-res look at the Supes symbol and offered a slight hint at the film’s setting too.

One year since announcing the birth of DC Studios and a new interconnected universe, Gunn has begun to show progress starting with the filming of Superman: Legacy.. sans the last part. The director reveals he decided to retitle the movie to just “Superman” by the time he locked the final draft.

The first image shows a vibrant logo much on the lines of Superman’s suit from Kingdom Come. It also seems like some parts of the movie would take place in a snow setting. It was teased early on filming would take place around the world aside from shooting on soundstages in Atlanta.

James Gunn changed his mind on Superman Legacy title during final script draft stage

While we did not see the titular star’s full frontal look donning the cape, it appears it is Corsenswet donning the suit in the image shared above.

David Corenswet is in the best shape to portray the hunky superhero, considering The Politician star looked bulked up back in September 2023 after landing the DC Comics character role in June. The actor’s uncanny resemblance to Henry Cavill has not gone unnoticed though it remains to be seen if Corsenswet would look as huge as The Witcher actor.

Aside from the first look, Rachel Brosnahan also shared a brief clip from the set inside a Caravan. The actress also introduces her co-stars Nicholas Hoult and the titular star. Hoult’s clean-shaven head confirms Lex Luthor will appear with the iconic look from the start. Furthermore, last week in February, Gunn shared a picture of the full cast after their table read for Superman.

It will be interesting to see how the first DCU Film would introduce the huge set of characters namely Metamoprho (Anthony Carrigan), Hawkgirl (Isabela Merced), The Engineer (María Gabriela de Faría), Mister Terrific (Edi Gathegi) and Guy Gardner (Nathan Fillion), especially considering the live-action is expected to keep the central focus on Clark Kent, a Kryptonian superhero struggling to reconcile his heritage with his human upbringing.

Superman will be released in theaters in July 2025.
