‘Deadpool 3’: Actor Ryan Reynolds Confirms The Film Is Already In Development

Deadpool fans have been wondering if the ongoing Disney-Fox merger deal would impact the continuation of the fan-favorite R-rated film franchise. Well, according to actor Ryan Reynolds, the filmmakers have already begun work on Deadpool 3 and this is definitely good news for the fans.

While attending Deadpool 2’s theatrical release in China, Reynolds confirmed that his team is already at work on Deadpool 3, reported Variety. He revealed that the third installment will likely head in a completely different direction, joking that the movie studio often reboots characters “like four movies too late.”

Reynolds’ statement seems to be in line with recent comments from Deadpool writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick who confirmed that they are shooting ideas back and forth with Reynolds.

We’re constantly in touch with Ryan, and we’re always throwing ideas back and forth via text and phone conversations,” Wernick said. “So, it’s always at the front of our minds. We’ll get there when the time is right, but as of right now, X-Force is next up.”

However, the writers made it clear that the studio’s first priority is to roll out X-force movie before Deadpool 3, reported We Got This Covered.

According to the chronology that we’ve established, X-Force will be next, before Deadpool,” Reese said. “It’s a bit of the ‘Iron Man 1, Iron Man 2, The Avengers, Iron Man 3‘ model, in that sense. X-Force isn’t being written by us. It’s being written and directed by Drew Goddard, or at least that’s the plan right now. We’re not involved with that one.”

Reese added that Deadpool 3 is currently taking a back seat to make way for X-Force.

We do anticipate there will be a Deadpool 3 at some point, but it’s just a little premature because it will definitely take a backseat to X-Force for the time being,” the Deadpool writer said.

Deadpool 2 will be released as Deadpool 2: I Love My Family in China. The new title pays homage to a famous Chinese TV show from the ’90s that follows the story of a family in Beijing.
