Deathstroke’s story arc involving his son Joe may never be completed. According to the latest report, DC Comics anti-hero Deathstroke, also known as Slade Wilson may not return to Arrow.
Despite the unfinished story arc, DC TV shows have been told not to use Deathstroke for the show. Yet again, the character is off-limits for The CW.
“These are DC’s characters, we’re just renting them ya know, so we use the characters that they tell us we can use when we can use them, and we work around whatever limitations that places us,” Arrow executive producer Marc Guggenheim said during ACE Comic-Con.
It is clear, the reason why Arrow has been told not to use Deathstroke is his involvement in DC Cinematic Universe. Joe Manganiello will be portraying Slade Wilson on the big screen.
“For a time they were saying ‘you can’t use Deathstroke’, and that changed and we were able to have Slade Wilson back on the show, and now we’re back to ‘you can’t use him’.” So, why the change? It’s down to the movies, obviously. “They’re working on the feature film version, it really is sort of now that you’ve got obviously Slade, spoiler alert, Deathstroke appears at the end of the Justice League movie,” he added. Manu Bennett’s character made his return in Arrow Season 6 episode 5 titled “Deathstroke Returns.” He was back for a story arc that involved his son Joe, who made a big reveal about the existence of his brother Grant. After a fight with his father, Joe escapes.
With Deathstroke gone, fans will never find out what happened to his son Joe. This isn’t the first time DC has put restrictions on its characters. Arrow had plans to introduce Harley Quinn, but the plan was changed when the movie Suicide Squad went into production.
Arrow Season 6 is currently on hiatus and it will return on Jan. 18, 2018 with an episode titled “Divided.” As reported earlier, the show will see the return of a beloved character, Colton Haynes’ Roy Harper. Keep visiting Pursue News for more regular updates.
