‘Did they digitally add Ben Affleck’s face’ – fans react to The Flash TV spots featuring Batfleck, Burtonverse’ Batman, Barry Allen in speed force & more, teasing full-length trailer for CinemaCon

A TV spot for The Flash movie shows glimpses of Ben Affleck‘s Batman in action unlike never before – fighting crime in daylight. However, the scene in question has come under criticism for its shoddy VFX. It appears Batfleck’s chin has digitally been added on the cowl in post-production and sadly sticks out like a sore thumb.

It seems there will come a point when Barry Allen (Ezra Miller) will have to fight his way out of the speed force in The Flash movie, as teased in the latest promos. Warner Bros. has released three new TV spots for Andy Muschietti‘s scarlet speedster flick to hype up DCU fans for the full-length trailer releasing on April 25 – the same day the movie is set to be screened at CinemaCon.

The first promo is a 6-second clip featuring brief shots of Sasha Calle‘s Supergirl, General Zod (Michael Shannon) and the two Barry Allens. but the takeaway moment was Michael Keaton‘s Dark Knight dropping to the ground on his knees.

fans compare Ben Affleck’s face in The Flash to Superman’s CGI fiasco

The Snyderverse’s Batman is shown in a chase sequence on the Batmobile in the second promo. The disjointed placement of Batman’s chin in the scene is being compared by many fans to the Josstice League situation when Superman’s mustache was removed with CGI. Meanwhile,  The last titled Batwing TV spot received a positive reaction for paying tribute to 1989’s Batman . The clip shows the Burtonverse’s Batman drop-down from the Batwing.

While anticipation for The Flash movie is at an all-time high – there are also naysayers pointing out the low-grade visual effect shots from the trailer. However, since the movie is still in post-production – there is hope the filmmakers will have polished the scenes for its theatrical release. In fact, Sony & Marvel Studios’ Spider-Man: No Way Home VFX team was reworking the computer-generated sequences even post its release.

Not all shots from the teaser have received harsh criticism rather the speedster sequences warping space and time have been praised. Nevertheless, the verdict is expected to be out after The Flash movie screening at CinemaCon. Moreover, Ben Affleck has praised his performance in the Speedster feature as his best work portraying the caped crusader by far.

From the looks of it, exhibitors and journalists attending CinemaCon 2023 will be allowed to share their social media reaction to The Flash, similar to 2022’s Top Gun: Maverick screening at the event.

The Flash will arrive in theaters on June 16, 2023 in North America with an earlier release (June 14) internationally.
