Since wrapping up works with War for the Planet of the Apes, Director Matt Reeves was quick at taking over The Batman project under Warner Bros DCEU. Although the director has just started working on the title, he recently revealed his potential future ideas as well.
During an interview with Fandango, Reeves discussed his upcoming film War for the Planet of the Apes releasing this month on 14th July. The director was also questioned about his next project The Batman and whether it could be a potential trilogy as well. Here’s what he had to say.
“I have ideas about an arc, but really, the important thing is just to start… you have to start with one,” he said. “You know, you have to start with a story that begins something.
It’s quite exciting to hear that Reeves has already considered a possible trilogy with the new Batman. However, the director also stressed that he is currently looking at producing a good standalone with Ben Affleck.
In earlier interviews, Reeves compared the character Caesar from War for the Planet of the Apes to The Batman. Recently, the director also stated the same again during his interaction with Yahoo Movies.
“I do see a very strong parallel between [Batman and Caesar] because they’re both damaged characters who are grappling to the do the right thing in a very imperfect world. A world that’s filled with all of the corruption that is human.”
It looks like Reeves’s experience with Ceaser in War for the Planet of the Apes has helped him in forming an arc for The Batman as well. however, some fans have also shared their concerns over Ben Affleck as an early rumor stated that the actor was looking to take his exit from playing the role.
