Director Matt Reeves’ Story For ‘The Batman’ Won’t Focus On Jason Todd’s Death

While it was rumored that Matt Reeves’ The Batman film may feature a young Bruce Wayne dealing with the death of Jason Todd, aka Robin, the same isn’t going to happen. According to a new report from The Wrap, an insider source with knowledge of the project has confirmed that the upcoming Batman movie is not going to feature Jason Todd’s death.

So, this confirms that Reeves’ The Batman movie won’t exactly be an adaptation of the “A Death in the Family” storyline, in which the Clown Prince of Crime killed Jason Todd.

Earlier, the director had confirmed that The Batman movie would get a new script. So the news of Jason Todd’s storyline exclusion from the story doesn’t come unexpectedly. However, it looks like DC’s live action Titans TV series may introduce the character before DCEU even gets a chance.

Notably, the storyline of The Batman solo movie is currently under wraps. The production of the film is not expected to begin until next year. Recently when a fan took to social media to ask Reeves for an update about the film, he replied that the work on the film is going on really well and that he is too excited for the project.

I’m sure people ask you all the time about The Batman, who will be in it, what it’s about, etc. But I bet no one asks HOW it is going on The Batman. So, how is it going on The Batman?” the fan asked.

Really, really well, thanks!  I could not be more excited!” Matt Reeves replied.

While fans are still expecting their favorite Ben Affleck to reprise the role of the Caped Crusader in the upcoming movie, there are several reports that claim that Reeves is in search for a new actor to play Batman in the upcoming film. Names like Jake Gyllenhaal, Jon Hamm or Armie Hammer are currently being linked to the role, but there is no any official confirmation yet if either of the actors has been finalized for the role.

Considering the 2019 production date, it is likely that The Batman won’t get released until 2020 or 2021.
