As it is already known that Tom Holland’s Spider-Man will be seen working along with the Marvel superheroes in Avengers Infinity War to battle against Thanos, we may expect Peter Parker’s relationship with Tony Stark a.k.a. Iron Man will grow close. If you can recall, Tony Stark played the role of a superhero mentor to a young Peter Parker in Spider-Man: Homecoming. He was in fact like a father figure for Peter. With the two getting back in action in Avengers: Infinity War, their relationship is clearly going to continue.
Screen Rant got the opportunity to speak with Avengers: Infinity War directors, Joe and Anthony Russo about Peter and Tony’s roles. The Russo brothers teased saying that their bond will continue to evolve in certain ways during the movie.
Anthony: Tony is still in his, you know, he sort of sided with the Accords. He’s playing out the consequences of that choice and still leading the Avengers who are not on the opposite side of the Accords. And the opposite side of the law at this point. And he still has this connection with Spider-Man that he’s established-
Joe: In Homecoming.
Anthony: And that evolves. And they basically have a unique mentor-mentee relationship that continues to evolve as they move into this film.
Notably, Peter will be seen wearing the Iron Spider suit during his battle with Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War. However, the fact that Marvel has already confirmed that Iron Man will not make an appearance in the Spider-Man: Homecoming sequel seems to hint Stark’s story in the MCU might come to an end. It is rumored that Tony Stark will die by the end of Avengers 4.
We will get to see more of Spiderman and Iron Man in Avengers: Infinity War when it lands in theatres next month on April 27. The hype for the upcoming film is such that Infinity War surpassed Black Panther‘s pre-sale ticket sales in mere six hours when tickets went on sale officially on Friday.
