Disney-Fox Deal For Marvel Properties Likely To Wrap Up Earlier Than Expected

If recent reports are to be believed the much talked about Disney-Fox deal worth a whopping $71.3 billion might come to a closure by the end of 2018. It was previously expected that the merger deal would wrap up by early 2019.

The deal will see the Walt Disney Company acquire 21st Century Fox’s movie and TV assets, namely Hollywood studio 20th Century Fox. As part of the deal, popular Fox properties including X-Men, Deadpool, and Fantastic Four will now come into the Marvel Studios fold.

According to a report coming from the Deadline, New FOX has announced promotions of five top executives along with other organizational moves hinting at the deal getting closed sooner rather than later.

As per the report, Eric Shanks, who is currently the President, Chief Operating Officer & Executive Producer of Fox Sports, has been promoted to become CEO of FOX Sports. Mike Biard, who is at present the President, Distribution for Fox Networks Group, has been elevated to the post of President, Operations and Distribution for FOX.

Paul Cheesbrough has been promoted to Chief Technology Officer and Head of Direct to Consumer Platforms for FOX. Marianne Gambelli is elevated to President of Ad Sales for FOX and Steve Tomsic, who is currently 21CF’s EVP, Finance and Deputy CFO, has been promoted to become FOX’s, Chief Financial Officer.

“We are fortunate to be able to continue working with these enormously talented executives who have helped make our businesses the incredible successes they are today,” said Lachlan Murdoch, who is going to be the chairman and CEO of the new FOX. “Collectively they bring to Fox the vision, entrepreneurial spirit and proven track records to position Fox to seize future opportunities for its leading and deeply resonant brands across sports, news, and entertainment.”

It is expected that the Disney-Fox deal won’t likely affect the development of the X-Men films which are currently in the works or in line for release including Dark Phoenix, New Mutants, the Channing Tatum Gambit standalone movie, Multiple Man, and X-Force.
