Doctor Strange director Scott Derrickson has been posting mysterious comic book images on his official Twitter account recently, leaving fans wondering what the images hint to. Some fans believe the pictures could be a tease for Marvel Studios’ Doctor Strange 2 which will see Benedict Cumberbatch reprising his MCU superhero role.
Derrickson’s latest comic book image shows the Sorcerer Supreme heading towards his destination, which is the shimmering light at the end of the corridor, to find out that it is an actual Universe in a microcosm, describing it as a world within a world.
“Narrow is the Way,” the Doctor Strange director captioned the picture.
Last week, Derrickson tweeted another image from a Doctor Strange comic that featured the character in the middle of some sort of cosmic eruption yelling, “Yes! I choose the good!”
A Twitter user named @SanctumBlog found that the panel is from a comic titled What If? Vol.1 #18 “What If Dr. Strange Were a Disciple of Dormammu?. The comic book in question depicts the Sorcerer Supreme as a follower of the demonic Dormammu and eventually chooses to oppose him and fight for good.
While Marvel is yet to officially announce Doctor Strange 2, the studios’ president Kevin Feige has already confirmed to Cinema Blend that a sequel is definitely on the way.
“Sometimes it’s where do those characters pop up? [Doctor] Strange, you know, whenever we do another Strange [movie], which we will do, it will be a number of years from the first Strange, and yet he’s a very big part of Infinity War,” Feige explained. “So it is just a good problem to have when you have too many beloved characters that people want to see more of, whilst keeping to our core belief that we need to keep exploring nuance and keep doing different types of things.”
Doctor Strange was among one of the victims who fall prey to Thanos’ snap at the end of Avengers: Infinity War. Fans will next see him in action in the yet-to-be-titled Avengers 4 which is set to release next year.
