Over the years, fans and critics have continued to share their opinion on Warner Bros. 2009 comic book film Watchmen. The alternate history movie directed by Zack Snyder received mixed opinion upon its release and has been branded as “underrated” by many fans.
For those unaware, Watchmen is based on Alan Moore’s graphic novel series released in 1986-87. The film takes place in an alternate timeline in DC Universe.
Unfortunately, to this day, Watchmen still receives negative opinions as many add it to their list of worst movies. Recently, the film was once again a victim of bad press. It started when news website A.V Club posted a Q&A asking its readers and staff to talk about the worst movie they ever saw in the theaters.
While the Q&A’s featured image itself is a promo photo from Watchmen, one of the authors of the website has also shared her opinion on how the film was a disappointment. Fortunately, not everyone goes by the same opinion, especially director Scott Derrickson.
It looks like the Doctor Strange director came across the Q&A article and was disappointed to find Watchmen among them. Recently, Derrickson tweeted the link along with a small comment which is sure to bring smiles among the DCEU fans.
“Pshaw. Watchmen is a masterpiece,” wrote Derrickson. The director also seemed enraged by the Q&A as he later tweeted, “Fuck all “worst films” list or discussions. I love movies, not just the movies I love.” Fans can check out his tweet below.
This isn’t the first time Derrickson has praised the film. Earlier this year, the director called the Ultimate cut version as an “unparalleled masterwork.” In 2016, Derrickson called the film “ahead-of-it’s-time masterpiece.”

Perhaps my favorite title sequence ever. And the 215 minute Ultimate Cut is an ahead-of-it's-time masterpiece. pic.twitter.com/VuO6UDQkPo
