The Marvels actor Iman Vellani‘s transformation into a full-fledged nerd is complete and her cosplay as Jubliee at the Fan Expo Canada is proof of it. The Ms. Marvel star was not alone as she was spotted posing alongside NHIE’s Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, who was also cosplaying but as Donatello from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle.
Marvel Studios’ Ms. Marvel actress and the breakout star from Netflix’s Never Have I Ever are causing waves across social media for posing in their cosplay outfits. The two rising actors were spotted donning simplified versions of the fan-favorite characters. Iman is donning a yellow jacket, in line with Jubilee’s appearance from X-Men ’97.
Maitreyi Ramakrishnan is wearing a “comfy cosplay” of Donatello with a BO staff and the purple eye bandana. While the Fan Expo Canada concluded as of last 27 August, Sunday – the actress on Twitter/X has assured a Raven cosplay is “coming soon” too.
The duo’s cosplay has clearly caught the attention of both Iman and Maitreyi’s fanbase. But Maitreyi stans have also fan-casted the Desi actress to portray Raven in the past so her interest to cosplay the character couldn’t come at a better time. Gunn’s casting of a young face like Isabela Merced for Hawkgirl arguably makes Maitreyi’s chances at securing Raven’s role or any other character from DCU lore more likely. Iman Vellani being a proper nerd and loving what she does might be the only redeeming thing the MCU has left. https://t.co/g5eqxIy7Dg

Vellani’s Kamala Khan is expected to play a pivotal role in The Marvels and beyond in MCU. In fact, Ms. Marvel is rumored to be at the center of the Young Avengers’ formation after Captain Marvel 2.
Meanwhile, The Marvels movie has been in the news lately since Dune 2 was postponed to 2024. The Captain Marvel sequel currently has no competition at the box office and has even secured the IMAX screen slots that were open for the Denis Villeneuve-helmed second installment.
I really want Raven to be played by a Desi actress in the DCU. That’s why my pick for her is Maitreyi Ramakrishnan. pic.twitter.com/3XEKl2i8N8

Maitreyi ramakrishnan as Raven, I’d love to see more of her range but I’ve always kind of liked the idea of raven being portrayed by a south Asian woman🤷🏾♀️ pic.twitter.com/HqVX2zkKDF

While Maitreyi Ramakrishnan has no upcoming projects at present, her unwavering stardom is likely to attract prospective gigs in the near future. But with the ongoing Actors Strike – it sadly further delays the process. On the bright side, she remains in the headlines thanks to her stunning cover photoshoots and instances like her interactions with other newcomers like Bollywood’s Khushi Kapoor, who will make her debut in The Archies.
