Warner Bros. has finally dropped the long-awaited first trailer for DUNE and it luckily seems to live up to fans’ expectations, unlike the earlier 1984 version. The new feature film adaptation of the 1965 Frank Herbert novel is directed by Denis Villeneuve (Arrival, Blade Runner 2049), but if that wasn’t enough to attract moviegoers, the film’s rich cast sure ought to do the job.
The studio has released several new hi-res stills from the DUNE trailer, offering a crisp clear look at the cast in their character suit. You can check it out below.
Warner Bros. first Dune trailer wins over Frank Herbert novel fans
The trailer begins with Timothée Chalamet, who plays the titular role as Paul Atreides and is shown having visions as he travels back to take control of Arrakis from the opposers of House Atreides. The 3-minute long trailer offers a clear first look at the cast such as Zendaya’s Chani, Josh Brolin as Gurney Halleck, Jason Momoa as Duncan Idaho to name a few.
Initial reaction to the trailer seems to be overwhelmingly positive but many fans’ are holding their expectations at bay due to their disappointment with the 1984 version of Dune film, directed by David Lynch. Unfortunately, that film turned out to be a financial and critical failure.
