If a new report is to be believed, Marvel is currently developing a potential limited team-up series featuring Sam Wilson aka Falcon  (Anthony Mackie) and Bucky Barnes aka the Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan)  for Disney’s upcoming streaming service, called Disney Play.

Variety reports that Empire writer Malcolm Spellman has already been roped in to pen down a series featuring the two Marvel superheroes. It is the first of the three proposed Marvel limited series to find a writer.

It is reported that Marvel and Disney are prepping multiple limited series centered on characters from the Marvel Cinematic Universe who had yet to appear in their own standalone films. Earlier this year, two standalone series centered on Loki (Tom Hiddleston) and Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) were also announced for the service.

While no other details for the limited series featuring Falcon and Winter Soldier are known, it is expected that the series will likely span up to six to eight episodes. Marvel Studios will reportedly produce the shows with Kevin Feige for the new Disney service, which is expected to begin service in fall 2019. The shows are also expected to have large budgets as compared to other television projects.

Notably, Falcon and Winter Soldier first met in Captain America: The Winter Soldier as adversaries and then eventually teamed-up in Captain America: Civil War, and again in the battle against Thanos during Avengers: Infinity War. Unfortunately, both Falcon and Winter Soldier were victims of Thanos’s deadly snap that wiped off half of the universe’s population. However, the two are expected to reprise their roles in the upcoming Avengers 4 as the film will likely restore both of these heroes.

Another report coming from Slashfilm suggests Paul Bettany‘s Vision will play a major role in the Scarlet Witch series. It is expected that the upcoming series will be more about the super-powered couple than just Wanda.
