Fans celebrate The Sandman season 2 renewal & are asking for a Delirium casting announcement, Desire actor Mason Alexander Park & others react

Netflix has spilled the beans on The Sandman season 2 which has finally received a thumbs up for development. The news has fans delighted as is the show’s star, Mason Alexander Parker who plays Desire. In fact, many followers are already looking forward to Netflix’s casting announcement for Delirium, one of the Endless and the youngest of the siblings.

A Netflix announcement gone wrong has The Sandman fans rejoicing on social media. Earlier on Wednesday, The DC Comics Twitter handle accidentally revealed that season 2 was officially greenlit, as Deadline notes and though the announcement tweet was quickly deleted, the damage was already done. Creator Neil Gaiman also confirmed the rumors were true, this comes after baseless social media reports claimed the series was canceled.

Ferdinand Kingsley, who plays Hob Gadling also responded to the announcement by sharing a panel from the Sandman comic with a few words redacted to express his excitement and surprise of a second segment in the works. Readers can check out the reactions below.

The Sandman was quick to gain popularity after premiering on Netflix on August 5. Its gripping adaptation of Gaiman’s source material had fans in love with characters like Dream, Death, and Matthew the Raven with many even campaigning for a Johanna Constantine spin-off series.

The series had earned first place on Netflix’s Top 10 for several weeks which eventually prompted the fandom’s continued plea for a season 2. The streaming giant had initially quenched viewers’ thirst by releasing a two-part bonus episode, wrapping up the first entry with a total of 11 episodes. Though since Gaiman had hinted that a renewal would be based on the series’ success on the platform, the news of The Sandman season 2 was a question of when the official word would arrive.

All that’s known for now is Gaiman is keen on further exploring Morpheus’ stories and no doubt Lucifer is also a key character that he plans on revisiting. There’s no word yet on a production date for The Sandman season 2.
