Fans react to Ms. Marvel episode 5 Kamala Khan’s time travel, India independence backstory, possible Terrigenesis reference, Kamran’s power & more

Ms. Marvel episode 5 has complicated MCU’s time travel laws whilst also possibly hinting at a Terrigensis reference. And if that wasn’t enough, introducing Kamran’s (Rish Shah) comic-accurate bioluminescence power has fans stoked if Marvel Studios is finally heading for an inhuman connection. Below is a highlight of some of the moments that stood out for viewers.

Ms. Marvel’s penultimate episode has left viewers with more questions than answers and it begins with the Indian independence backstory and the partition arc. Aisha (Mehwish Hayat) manages to board the last train to Karachi thanks to Kamala laying a path (a trail of stars) so she could find Hasan. However, the time loop in Ms. Marvel episode 5 throws Bruce Banner’s (Mark Ruffalo) time travel theories from Avengers: Endgame out the window.

For context, Professor Hulk reminded Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) during their time heist plan that “time doesn’t work that way, changing the past doesn’t change the future.” So it remains to be seen how the series will explain the temporal loop.

Ms. Marvel’s 1947 stint ends up opening a veil to the other world the Clandestines called home. But the energy force mummifies them into a cocoon, like the Terrigenesis process caused by the Terigen mist in Agents of SHIELD. Najma’s (Nimra Bucha) death in the same fashion bizarrely influences Kamran’s newfound abilities. Unfortunately, the DODC is already hunting him and worse, Bruno is caught up in the mess as well. While the stakes had viewers glued in, the light-hearted relief moments with Muneeba (Zenobia Shroff), Fawad Khan’s entry as Hasan and the romantic entanglement with Sana had fans gushing.

Ms. Marvel episode 5’s ending may have been abrupt but its distinct opening title continues to win hearts. The latest stylized art of the title card in South Asian languages Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, etc was well-received by Indian and Pakistani viewers. In addition,  viewers double-downed on Marvel’s balanced depiction of riots caused due to the British’s divide and rule policy during the partition. The use of news archives of Jawaharlal Nehru and Mahatma Gandhi was a nice touch.

Ms. Marvel finale will air next Wednesday on Disney Plus.
