Filming Of Wonder Woman 2 Will Give Way For Flashpoint & Batgirl Movie

Warner Bros. DCEU has just one movie lined up for this year’s which is Aquaman. The standalone film features Jason Momoa and Amber Heard who will be reprising their roles from Justice League. The movie is scheduled to hit theaters on December 21, 2018. but this year could also give way to other DC titles such as Flashpoint and Batgirl.

Among others, DC Extended Universe’s superhero movie Shazam! is currently under production with the filming work going on in Toronto. Shazam! is set to land in theaters on April 5, 2019. Next on the line is Wonder Woman 2 which is currently into the casting stage. The makers will begin shooting for the film at the end of this year.

According to THR, Flashpoint and the Batgirl movie are the two DC Films projects that are expected to enter active development once director Patty Jenkins’ begins shooting Wonder Woman 2 later this year.

The information was revealed in the announcement that Warner Bros. has roped in Chantal Nong as the new VP Production of Warners’ DC film group. Nong will oversee the development and production management of Warner Bros.’ DC movie slate which includes Wonder Woman 2, Flashpoint and Batgirl. She has previously worked on the studio’s 2014’s Godzilla and 300: Rise of an Empire.

Talking about Flashpoint, John Francis Daley, and Jonathan Goldstein are now in talks to helm the speedster project. The duo behind Vacation and Warner Bros. upcoming comedy Game Night has also worked on the script for Spider-Man: Homecoming. Not much is known about the film. Flashpoint is rumored to release in January of 2020. Batgirl will be directed by Joss Whedon. The film has no release window yet.

DC’s next feature film, Aquaman is directed by James Wan. The film stars Jason Momoa playing Arthur Curry/Aquaman, Amber Heard playing  Mera, Patrick Wilson as Orm/Ocean Master, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II playing Black Manta, Temeura Morrison playing Thomas Curry, Dolph Lundgren as Nereus, Ludi Lin as Murk, Michael Beach playing Jesse Kane, Nicole Kidman as Atlanta and Willem Dafoe playing Nuidius Vulko.
