Warner Bros. reportedly released the first footage from upcoming horror film IT Chapter 2 at its presentation panel at the recently held Comic Con (CCXP) 2018 event in Brazil. IT Chapter 2 is the sequel to last year’s horror hit IT based on Stephen King’s classic novel of the same name.
According to Collider’s Steve Weintraub, who attended the CCXP event, the film studio showed off footage from the film featuring a look at the film’s production and interviews of the director and cast members to get fans excited about the sequel.
As explained by Weintraub, the video in question saw director Andy Muschietti talk what he aims to accomplish with the anticipated sequel. He said that the upcoming film will be more serious, more intense, and have scarier moments as compared to the original film. The video also showed some pre-production artwork, including the different departments working on the film.
While the video didn’t offer much footage from the film, it did show some new cast members including Jessica Chastain, Bill Hader, James McAvoy, and others talking about what the film is all about. The video included a shot of the cast together walking across a bridge. It even included some video from the very first table read with every cast member listed getting ready to read the script.
IT Chapter 2 will see the adult members of the Losers’ Club return to Derry to once again face off the murderous clown Pennywise that haunted the group as children. The film is set 27 years after the first IT movie.
The official IT Chapter 2 synopsis reads as below-
Because every 27 years evil revisits the town of Derry, Maine, IT: Chapter Two brings the characters—who’ve long since gone their separate ways—back together as adults, nearly three decades after the events of the first film.
IT Chapter 2 stars Jessica Chastain (Beverly Marsh), James McAvoy (Bill Denbrough), Bill Hader (Richie Tozier), Jay Ryan (Ben Hanscom), Andy Bean (Stanley Uris), James Ransone (Eddie Kaspbrak), and Isaiah Mustafa (Mike Hanlon) in the lead roles.
The film is set to debut in theaters on September 6, 2019.
