Fox Assures ‘Gambit’ Is Still On Table For Planned Universe At CineEurope

20th Century Fox’s Gambit solo movie got finally announced during Fox’s X-Men presentation in CineEurope 2018.

According to Russian outlet BulletinKino, the studio briefly teased Gambit in their CineEurope presentation after releasing the first X-Men: Dark Phoenix trailer exclusively for the event attendees. Fox allegedly announced that they have two more movies planned in the Marvel universe including The New Mutants and Gambit.

It is important to note that New Mutants has already completed principal photography and has a set release date. But talking about Gambit, the film still does not even have a director attached as of yet. So teasing Gambit on such a big stage suggests that Fox still has the film in his priority list and wants to keep fans excited about it. No further details were announced about the film.

The film has been in development for several years now. It was first announced back in 2014 with Channing Tatum attached to play the lead role of Ragin’ Cajun/ Remy LeBeau. The project has faced a lot of production woes from the early days of production. It went into the hands of three directors namely Rupert Wyatt (Rise of the Planet of the Apes), Doug Liman (The Bourne Identity) and Gore Verbinski (Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl).

When some fans got to a conclusion that the film might never ever see the light of the day, X-Men producer Simon Kinberg recently came forward with the latest update about the much-awaited film. He confirmed that Gambit is still up and running.

Gambit currently has a release date set for June 7, 2019. Back in March, Omega Underground reported that the film might go on floors on June 19. But, considering the fact that film doesn’t have a director attached as yet, there are high chances that the production date might get delayed a bit.

Nevertheless, Fox’s mere mention of Gambit during its presentation is enough to keep fans excited about the film.
