Fox studio has hired production designer Jess Gonchor for its upcoming film Gambit. Gonchor has been associated with the Coen Brothers for a while now.
The two-time Academy Award nominee Jess Gonchor has quite a few noteworthy films to his credit, which includes True Grit, No Country for Old Men, Live by Night, Burn After Reading, The Devil Wears Prada, Away We Go and the upcoming Netflix series The Ballad of Buster Scruggs by Coens, among other movies/TV shows.
It was only last month that Gore Verbinski was appointed as the director of Gambit. It must be mentioned here that Gonchor has worked with Verbinski and Channing Tatum on The Lone Ranger, Foxcatcher and Hail, Caesar!
Gambit the movie will hit the theaters only in 2019. Meanwhile, Fox studio is getting ready to bring together other aspects of the production that includes appointing the crew and casts. Omega Underground announced the news of Gonchor getting on board as a production designer of this X-Men spinoff.
Gambit, which was stuck in the developmental stages for a long time can now heave a sigh of relief as it has seen a lot of progress in the past few weeks. Fox studios have taken a very smart decision by getting Gore Verbinski to helm the project along with Jess Gonchor and newly appointed costume designer Jenny Beavan.
Verbinski, best known for the first three Pirates of the Carribean films has a mixed list of films to boast about. He is extremely creative, and along with Jess Gonchor, could come up with something very novel and unexpected for Gambit.
With the previous X-Men spinoffs (Deadpool and Logan), Fox has shown its willingness to take risks. Verbinski, Gonchor and Beavan have never been linked with comic book movies so far. Hence it would be interesting to see how the Gambit team work together to come up with something refreshingly new.
There is very little information about Gambit right now, and all we can say at this point is that the film is scheduled to release on February 14, 2019.
