Fox’s Gambit with Channing Tatum playing the lead role will begin its shooting on March 19th in New Orleans, Louisana.
Omega Underground has confirmed the start of Gambit’s shooting as March 19th in New Orleans. In this Gore Verbinski directed film, Tatum plays the role of Remy LeBeau, who is the mutant thief, also known as Gambit.
The lead character in the film will be heading a motley mutant crew on a dangerous robbery expedition. The mutant can charge objects using kinetic energy, which in turn causes them to explode.
Talking about his love for the character, Tatum once said, “There wasn’t a comic store, but the cartoon was on TV and he was this cool Cajun guy. And he was the easiest person to play as a kid because you could just unscrew the broom handle, get a pack of cards and wrap a bandana around your head. We had a lot of fun throwing cards and trying to take our friends’ eyes out across the living room.”
He further added, “He is just cool, man. He is one of the few superheroes that has an actual culture to him. He doesn’t talk like a vanilla American. He is from a specific geo-location, New Orleans, which is a really specific thing.”
The character, which first appeared in 1990, was created by Chris Claremont and Jim Lee. He was introduced to the audience on screen in the 1990s X-Men: Animated Series.
Gambit is an expensive film and will reportedly operate with a budget of a whopping $155 million. The film had to face a number of obstacles which included production delays, and a rotating set of directors functioning behind the camera. The film’s plot will not be affected in any manner in spite of the Disney and Fox deal since the deal will be operational only by 2020. This means there won’t be any influence coming from Disney, and the team can function as per their original plan.
Gambit has an excellent team and a wealth of talent apart from Gore, who helms the film. Lizzy Caplan, and costume designer Jenny Beavan are the few of the other assets of the film.
Gambit movie is expected to hit the theaters on February 14, 2019.
