Recently, Game of Thrones actress Maisie Williams, who plays the role of fan-favorite Arya Stark, posted a photo on her social media sparking a new theory that fans are assuming could be the outcome of the epic war with the night king.
On her official Instagram account, Williams posted a photo of her bloodied sneakers. However, it’s the caption and the hashtags that caught fans’ attention sparking a new theory hinting that it might be a potentially major spoiler.
“Goodbye Belfast. Goodbye Arya. Goodbye Game of Thrones. What a joy I’ve had. Here’s to the adventures to come,” Williams wrote after filming her final scenes of HBO’s megahit series Game of Thrones Season 8.
The caption was accompanied by interesting hashtags “‘#lastwomanstanding #barely #immasleepforthenextfouryears #justkiddingidontsleep.”
Williams’ hashtags #lastwomanstanding and #barely has stirred up a few discussions. The latest theory based on Williams’ post suggests that Arya may come out alive as the only survivor of the war among the other leading ladies like Sansa Stark or Daenerys Targaryen. Then again, it could mean that she is the one to claim the most coveted Iron Throne. If Arya takes the throne, what about Sansa and Daenerys? Where do they end up?
There are several theories floating on the internet hinting at varied endings. However, all we know for certain is that there are going to be several deaths and an unpredictable conclusion.
Fans on social media are divided by what Williams hashtag could mean. While some fans are jumping to the conclusion that she could have spoiled the ending, others believe its too soon to jump to such conclusion based on this mere speculation.
Speaking to Digital Spy, Game of Thrones actress Sophie Turner, who plays the role of Sansa Stark revealed, “it really is so unpredictable the way that [the series] ends up.”
“People have come up with so many fan theories about how it’s going to end, and who will end up where, and who will end up with who. It really is so unpredictable the way that it ends up. I’m very satisfied with that, and I think that the fans will be satisfied with that, too,” Turner explained.
Games of Thrones actors are forbidden under contractual obligation from revealing the plot details. At the same time, the showrunners are stringently keeping the details under the wrap. The show has suffered several leaks in the past. Hence, they are taking extra caution by using a self-destructive script as a protective measure.
