Gen V episode 1 fans react to Little Cricket’s disturbing sex scene, Golden Boy’s [Spoiler], Jordan Li’s gender fluid powers & more

From watching Marie’s (Jaz Sinclair) “bloody” superpowers go terribly wrong in the first few minutes into Gen V episode 1 to witnessing one of the best cliffhangers in Golden Boy’s (Patrick Schwarzenegger) dual against Jordan Li, the debut episode of The Boys spin-off appears to live up to the expectations and its critical acclaim. Moreover, Season 1’s premiere episode also assures us that Godolkin University is just as bothersome as Vought if not more. Here are some of the best moments according to fans.

It’s not a Boys spin-off without a few references to the Supes and other prominent characters responsible for the show’s success. So Gen V starts off with a brief flashback addressing how A-Train joined the Seven. It’s safe to say the spin-off stays in tune with The Boys’ tone in offering a satirical take on right-wing politics, “We live in a post-racism world,” says Madelyn Stillwell speaking to VSN.

Episode 1 steps it up a notch by even referencing real-world personalities like Jake Paul, Scott Disick, Kendall, and top it off, PewDiePie. Though its comical touch is short-lived in the first few minutes when Marie’s (Jaz Sinclair) puberty also unlocks her superpowers. Marie accidentally kills her parents, reminding viewers of the gore that lies behind the subtle heartwarming moments.

Gen V episode 1 has its fair share of blood-curdling sequences & weird Supes nudity. In fact, Like the shocking Termite’s sex scene from The Boys season 3 episode 1 – the spin-off’s debut segment also delivers kinky yet traumatic moments. Little Cricket’s (Lizze Broadway) shrinking ability is sadly one of them and seeing it in action during her sexual encounter has left a good deal of viewers disturbed.

The hour-long pilot does a solid job of introducing its main characters so folks are already picking out their favorites from the ensemble. Jordan Li, Marie and Emma have received the most attention based on reactions on social media.

Jordan Li’s gender-fluid ability has scored some of the most praise so far from Gen V episode 1. Their gender-swapping ability also comes with special attributes, arguably making them the strongest after Golden Boy. Sadly, the character was quickly killed off,Β  a shocker indeed for a Supes teased to be as strong as Homelander.

Golden Boy kills himself by self-immolation after whispering his last words to Andre (Chance Perdomo). It appears Marie was not the only one fighting her nightmares. Although Golden Boy’s premature death remains a shocking disappointment – the incident teases there’s more to it than meets the eye.

The only good turnout from the incident could be Marie dodging her expulsion since Golden Boy burnt Prof. Rich Brinkerhoff (Clancy Brown) to a crisp. But will the gang uncover what led to Golden Boy’s death? Tune in on Gen V episode 2 which is currently streaming on Prime Video.
