‘Ghostbusters 3’: Actress Leslie Jones Furious Over Makers For Ignoring 2016 Reboot

Sony Pictures recently gave a green light to Ghostbusters 3 that will be a direct continuation of the 1984 original film and its 1989 sequel and will completely ignore the events of Paul Feige’s all-female Ghostbusters reboot film. Well, the news didn’t go well with Comedian and actress Leslie Jones who played the character of MTA worker-turned-Ghostbuster Patty Tolan in the 2016 reboot. The film also featured Kate McKinnon, Kristen Wiig, and Melissa McCarthy.

Soon after Ghostbusters 3 was officially announced, Jones took to social media to slam the franchise’s next installment which will ignore its predecessor, like it never even existed.

So insulting. Like fuck us,” Jones tweeted on Saturday. “We dint count. It’s like something trump would do. (Trump voice) ‘Gonna redo ghostbusteeeeers, better with men, will be huge. Those women ain’t ghostbusteeeeers’ ugh so annoying. Such a dick move. And I don’t give fuck I’m saying something!!

After Jones’ tweet spread like wildfire, she came up with another tweet noting that the response she received to her initial tweet was disappointing.

It’s very sad that this is [the] response I get,” Jones tweeted. “When the point is if they make this new one with all men and it does well which it will. It might feel that ‘boys are better’. [I]t makes my heart drop. Maybe I could have [used] different words but I’m allowed to have my feelings just like them.” You can check out the tweets below.

There’s currently no official word on who will be cast in Ghostbusters 3. It is rumored that the film will likely feature a quartet of teenagers- two boys and two girls, or it might even reunite the surviving cast of the 1984 original. The film will be directed and co-written by Jason Reitman, the son of original franchise director Ivan Reitman.

The new Ghostbusters movie is slated for a Summer 2020 release.
