WB & Legendary Pictures’ ‘Godzilla vs. Kong’ Working Title Revealed

Since learning that Legendary Pictures’ Godzilla vs. Kong had moved forward with a filming date and location, it was only a matter of time before more details regarding its production was made available for fans.

According to a recent listing on Production Weekly, the working title for Godzilla vs. Kong is “Apex”.  Any fan of the franchise would know that the working title is an incomplete term (Apex predator) commonly used to refer an Alpha predator which is at the top of the food chain with no natural predators. It is certainly a fitting working title.

Earlier last month, the working title for Godzilla: King of the Monsters was revealed to be Fathom by the same production listing website. They can be considered to be a reliable source.

Godzilla 2 will take Warner Bros. attempt to expand its MonsterVerse to the next step. The sequel’s release in 2019 will look to step up the main crossover event in Godzilla vs. Kong.

Godzilla vs. Kong is expected to get into production this late October in Atlanta. The Godzilla sequel was also shot in the same location. The nearing production date also suggests that the casting process might be underway.

Filming of Godzilla vs. Kong will go on till February. It leaves the studio with ample time for possible reshoots and post-production for its release in 2020.

Godzilla vs. Kong will be directed by Adam Wingard. Though Kong: Skull Island director Jordan Vogt-Roberts isn’t a part of the project, he has assured that Wingard shares the same vision as his in understanding “the kind of anime, manga, mech sensibility that I[Roberts] was trying to bring to Kong,” said the Skull Island director to Collider.

Godzilla vs. Kong will hit theatres on May 22, 2020. Keep visiting Pursue News for updates related to the movie and others in the Monsterverse.
