Gotham Season 5: Disappointed Fans Make Fun Of Shane West’s Bane Suit Reveal

Soon after pictures of Shane West’s Bane in tanked up armor from the fifth and final season of FOX’s DC drama series, Gotham surfaced online courtesy Gotham writer and producer Tze Chun, Fox and Warner Bros. rolled out the first official picture of the classic Batman villain.

Entertainment Weekly unveiled the first official look at West’s Bane donning a high-tech mask and vest, with red circles underneath his eyes. Notably Gotham Season 5 will portray Bane as Eduardo Dorrance, who is a former friend of Ben McKenzie’s Jim Gordon, who arrives in the city as part of a government special operations team to restore order in No Man’s Land, and eventually transforms into the fearsome villain.

West’s Bane reveal has received a mixed response from Twitter fans. While some fans loved the look, a huge part of the fanbase were pretty disappointed. One of them even posted a picture of himself wearing a better mask than Bane. You can check out fans reaction in the tweets below.

During an interview with Den of Geek at the New York Comic Con, showrunner John Stephens described Gotham‘s Bane as “very, very strong, and very angry … we made him integral to the fact of coming in as a special ops government agent.”

John also confirmed that there would be a decade-long time jump in the last episode of the series that will see all of the characters become more like their classic comic versions.

Gotham also stars Ben McKenzie as James Gordon, David Mazouz as Bruce Wayne, Donal Logue as Harvey Bullock, Robin Lord Taylor as Penguin, Camren Bicondova as Selina Kyle, Erin Richards as Barbara Kean, and Sean Pertwee as Alfred Pennyworth.

Gotham Season 5 will return on FOX in 2019. Bane is expected to make his debut during the first run of Season 5 episodes, most probably in episode 8, titled “I Am Bane.”
