Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 Review: James Gunn Crafts The Best MCU Film With Emotion, Fun And Adventure

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 was honestly nothing like the original movie. But surprisingly, that seems to be the reason behind its raging success among critics and fans.

Before I appreciate and criticize the film, I am glad to say that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 plot has no connection to the Infinity stones. Earlier, James Gunn announced it on Twitter and gave us a bit of extra info that helped fans understand the film better.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 takes place just two months past the incidents that occurred in the first movie. The team members have been branded as heroes and as the ‘Guardians’ that not even Yondu wants to mess with anymore.

The movie has no concrete plot. While the Guardians are once again on a mission to save the Galaxy- that doesn’t seem to be the main point of the film.

The story is all about love and family. Unlike other Hollywood movies, it’s not just about the main cast. While we are initially led to believe that the relationship of Peter Quill and Ego the living planet is the happy ending that is instilled for us at climax- the movie plays with the audience’s emotions only to take us down a road of extreme “feels”.

Every character such as Gamora, Nebula, Drax, Mantis and especially Yondu and Baby Groot have played a prominent role in the success of the movie. Each of the characters had their responsibility to bring in fun, emotion, laughter and intimidating fight sequences to the movie.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 has succeeded in portraying the team as a true family rather than just make the word as a reference that is used in all movies to show unity.

Quill is no more the most hilarious cast member as Drax dominates the movie with his ‘no remorse to feelings dialogues.” The character also seems to have a new friend as he teams up with Mantis only to give the audience more fun and laughter.

This is the type of superhero movie that fans would wholeheartedly give their vote of confidence. I’d say Marvel Studios is blessed with great directors like James Gunn that understand the vision and purpose of Comic Book Movies.

I rate the film 10/10
