Since Adam Warlock’s tease in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 post-credits scenes, fans have been on edge in hopes of finding out the actor who’d play the Golden gladiator. Fortunately, the wait came to an end after Hollywood trades broke news that star Will Poulter had been cast for the role.
Director James Gunn was also quick to respond to the casting news confirming with a tweet that the Black Mirror star had in fact joined the GOTG team. Since then, fans have followed in the director’s footsteps to welcome Poulter into the Marvel Cinematic Universe family.
By far, skeptics have been on the lesser side with most of the fanbase accepting the casting decision. Some have even shared best moments of the 28-year-old actor appearing beside other well-known talents in Hollywood. Readers can check out the tweets below.
As you guys know I often strike down false rumors, so… um…
Welcome to the Guardians family, Will Poulter. He’s an amazing actor and wonderful guy. See you in a couple weeks. #AdamWarlock #GotGVol3 https://t.co/RaNeGDIC0E

I'm actually kinda glad they didn't cast a Zac Efron and went against type. Will Poulter seems like a dedicated actor and he'll probably do a great job as Adam Warlock. pic.twitter.com/kYrPcLNFaV

I feel like Will Poulter as Adam Warlock is going to be something we’ll all joke about before he turns out to be amazing in the role.
I’m excited to see how he does. pic.twitter.com/ELOnUc1y17

Will Poulter can play silly & fun and can also play an arrogant dick, and everything in between from what I’ve seen. This is great casting. https://t.co/Rwf965GcXZ

In 6 months there's going to be a photo of Will Poulter without a shirt, looking totally jacked, and all the people complaining today will be like, "OMG, he's perfect!" https://t.co/bJs1NrPvpl

I am actually so down with Will Poulter as Adam Warlock. He’s an extremely talented actor, and it’s a far more interesting choice than Zac Efron or anyone else fans juggled around.

The casting hunt for Adam Warlock role began sometime in the end of August with Poulter and other actors standing in contention for the Marvel role. After a long search, Gunn and the Marvel execs reportedly felt Poulter’s test was “too good” to pass.
Initially, there were rumors that Adam Warlock would be introduced in Avengers: Infinity War. Although the writers considered including the character as a new addition, they realized there were just too many existing characters in the film.
“We didn’t introduce Adam Warlock, because it’s a massive backbend and you practically have to make an Adam Warlock movie to introduce him. He just can’t walk onscreen,” said Markus in an 2018 interview.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is expected to begin rolling cameras in the beginning of November. Earlier last month, the threequel gained much hype after cast members shared an emotional response post their script read. But details regarding the plot are under wrap.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will hit theatres on May 5, 2023. Spinoffs based on the franchise namely I Am Groot and the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special does not have release dates attached yet.
