Harley Quinn May Not Be A Part Of James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad

There have been several DC film projects that have been in early development from a long time and there has been no wind of its progress. Recently, it was announced that a new Suicide Squad project helmed by James Gunn was moving forward and that it would comprise of a new cast of characters as it would in a form be a soft reboot. Moreover, it looks like even Harley Quinn won’t be part of the gang.

A new report from Forbes states the same but also says that Harley Quinn is not expected to be a part of Gunn’s The Suicide Squad. Furthermore, other spinoff projects such as The Harley and Joker movie and the solo Joker movie for Jared Leto have also been scrapped.

Harley Quinn will next appear in the Birds Of Prey which is currently in filming. but a few rumors revolving around this franchise’s future plans have been set straight. Warner Bros. currently has no plans to go ahead with a Birds of Prey and Gotham City Sirens spin-off.  Moreover, neither will the Batgirl movie be tied in with Birds of Prey.

It must be noted that there’s still the possibility that Warner Bros. will eventually decide to make a Gotham City Sirens movie but that isn’t part of their plan at the moment.

The report also says that other DC films such as Booster Gold and Blue Beetle, Nightwing, Deadshot, Justice League Dark, Cyborg, Lobo are all in some form of development or have been canceled or put on hold. And the report also states the evident, that the Superman project has been shelved for the moment and that Warner Bros. is concentrating on the Supergirl project.

It seems like the studio currently has decided to remain patient with the development of other DC titles and could make its next move based on the response it receives from titles such as Shazam!, Joker and Birds of Prey.

Birds of Prey releases on February 7, 2020.
